What is the Public Sector Pathway?

The Public Sector (PS) pathway of the Accelerate programme is designed for graduates who are passionate about making a positive difference at the heart of government.

You’ll help solve some of the UK’s most complex and pressing challenges by working with ministerial departments, agencies and other public bodies across the Public Sector.

This pathway could be right for you if you’re passionate about improving public services, interested in how technology and innovation can solve real-world challenges, and excited by the opportunity to work with people across government to drive meaningful change.

Your Accelerate Journey

The Institute (First 3 Months)

The Institute is a unique and immersive part of Capgemini Invent UK’s award-winning Accelerate Programme, designed to help you build the foundations of a successful consulting career. Following a three-week induction, you’ll spend 12 weeks developing core consulting skills through structured learning, practical assignments and real business challenges. With dedicated coaching, support and regular feedback, you’ll build confidence and gain hands-on experience before moving into client-facing work and live projects within your chosen pathway.

The Academy (Next 18 Months)

Following your time in The Institute, you’ll join the Public Sector Academy where you’ll continue your development while gaining experience on real client engagements. Throughout your time in the Academy, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a range of departments and areas of government while building your consulting skills in a feedback-rich environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Associate Consultant, you’ll embark on a stimulating and exciting journey where you’ll develop key skills that influence how our clients evolve the way they work, perform and achieve their goals.

  • Engaging with stakeholders and helping clients tackle complex challenges, including digital transformation, policy implementation and service delivery improvement
  • Supporting business development, including drafting proposals and bids and contributing to proposition development

You’ll work alongside a world-class team with a wealth of consulting and industry experience. You’ll begin to create relationships across the organisation and acquire a foundation of consulting skills, tools and methodologies to help accelerate your career.

As part of a project team, you’ll build trust-based relationships at the heart of a client’s organisation, helping them change the way they work and transform their business to achieve their goals. You’ll take on early responsibility and build your skills through interesting and challenging work.
