Someone recently asked me what had been my leadership mantra; what kept me going through my career. My response was simple – ‘Own your dreams! You can either see the glass ceiling or choose not to.’ And, when I say glass ceiling, I don’t mean just for women, I mean anything that people see as limitation – language, background, appearance and culture!
I truly believe the biggest hurdles we face exist inside our own heads – our fears of failing, our aversions to risk and our tendency to underestimate our ability to handle it. Scaling these hurdles isn’t easy. It takes courage to question the beliefs that have guided our choices and limited our horizons, but nothing is impossible.
At the end of the day – everyday’ s a school day – we are constantly learning and growing and the only thing holding us back is the alleged glass ceiling we box ourselves in by not believing in ourselves.
Capgemini’s ambition is to have a diverse workforce. While we are making progress, we know we need to do more. All of our business units have set gender balance targets and we run mentoring and other developmental programmes for our women employees. But we know that inclusive recruitment is one of the key accelerator to propel our gender balance targets. CAPtivate is Capgemini’s Career Comeback initiative to support skilled female professionals who want to make a transition back into the workforce. As part of our exclusive, women-only campaign, resumes are invited from enthusiastic and talented women—currently on a career break—who are looking to get back to their careers. Women who are currently not employed for a minimum duration of a year can apply to jobs that are relevant to their work experience. A minimum experience of 3 years is essential.

Below is the quote from Parul Srivastava who joined Capgemini after a Career break – “I joined Capgemini after an eight year gap from a full-time corporate job. I was freelancing, but was never considered a ‘professional’ by most organizations. I had worked for eight years in Media prior to joining Capgemini and I always carried the image of the same corporate life, which I had experienced earlier.
What Capgemini has given me is rare. I love working here because it gives me a great platform to pursue my passions – Facilitation and Coaching. It allows a great work-life balance and unlike my earlier organizations, it values people the most. This reflects in all aspects of how Capgemini treats its employees and conducts business.
I love being a Capgemini-ite!”
“First and foremost, please accept my deepest thanks to Capgemini family for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to restart my career after 4+ years of break!
Though I reskilled myself and been in par and relevant to the latest technologies, few of the companies tried to negotiate terms purely on the Gap factor irrespective having given the best in interviews. But Capgemini treated me differently and that really made me not to look back and instead grab this opportunity to serve this wonderful firm.
I was really impressed by the way this organization made me feel at home right from the Day1.Being a mom of 6-year-old son, I feel women has the unique power of multitasking. As I celebrate my career comeback, I want all the supermoms out there to return to their dream career without fear.
Once again, I sincerely thank you for bestowing upon me a terrific six-month journey!” – Vinitha Vinod
