Delivery excellence

Tell me about what brought you to Capgemini.

I’ve been at Capgemini for over a decade now. I started in Canada as a problem manager on one of the new accounts there. And since then, the advice and direction that I’ve received from my leaders within the Capgemini world is that you can shape your own career. And that’s exactly what Capgemini has given me in my journey here.

So, based on my interest, based on what motivates me and what interests me, I’ve been able to take on multiple roles through several years within Capgemini. And now I am a Delivery Executive for the insurance space within Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS).

How have you upskilled, going through these different roles?

There’s a lot of upskilling-focused opportunities that you can learn from. Formal training, informal training, and mentorship. That’s the benefit of working at Capgemini; you decide where you want to take your career. Capgemini offers all sorts of internal upskilling trainings. We have global training programs that you can be part of. We have in-person training in Les Fontaines in Paris. So those are some of the leadership courses you can take there as well.

There are a lot of skills development you can do within Capgemini. Whether it’s executive presence, executive leadership training, conflict training, how to manage different conflicts or difficult situations internally, and client-facing services.

Have you had any opportunities to work globally?

My main base has been in North America, either Canada or the US, but the teams that I interact with and the people I interact with have been all over the globe, whether it’s Canada, US, India, Poland, Romania, England. All sorts of geographies are in play. Even within India, multiple geographies within India itself. Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad. So I’ve had an opportunity to interact with a lot of different cultures, (and the) opportunity to meet a lot of different people, different backgrounds, and learn from them.

Tell me about your day-to-day and what you currently do at Capgemini.

As part of being the Delivery Executive within Cloud Infra Services, I’m accountable for large and complex engagements, mostly in the insurance space. I’m in insurance financial services, so my top three clients are all in the insurance space.

The insurance sector has been challenging this year, because of the cost of replacing goods. The financial investment side of things as well. Everybody is very cost conscious and so is Capgemini. And this is where we can partner with our customers, with our clients, and shape their financial positions. Help them hit their financial goals and objectives for 2023, and help them be ready for the future in 2024 and beyond.

Have you been part of any innovative transitions or cutting-edge technology transformations?

Yes. When working at Capgemini you’re always exposed to cutting-edge technologies and innovations. Whether it’s FinTech, whether it’s ServiceNow, whether any of our partners, like SAP or ServiceNow. You get an opportunity to get involved in some of these cutting-edge things that we’re doing, whether learning from existing challenges that somebody might be resolving in a different geography.

How does sustainability intersect with the insurance and finance industry?

Sustainability is big for Capgemini and for our clients. Capgemini has a robust framework on how we want to achieve our sustainability goals and objectives, and how we plug into our clients’ sustainability goals and objectives. Capgemini has various initiatives through the years to meet our goals that we’ve set out for ourselves, whether it’s being smart about travel, how we are using our resources. So having knowledge of that and having exposure to that has always been fascinating.

What do you love most about being part of Capgemini?

There are a couple of things that motivate me and other people that I work with that really make working at Capgemini interesting and different. One is that you can go in whichever direction you want. There’s so much opportunity within the company. There’s so much exposure. Whatever your interests are, I’m sure you can find something here. And you can carve your own path. Nobody’s going to stop you. You have your destiny in your own hand when you’re working at Capgemini.

One thing we say in Capgemini is act like you’re the CEO of a company. Because that’s really what you are. You’re a CEO of your small little company. When I’m working with my clients, that’s how I operate. And that’s how I encourage my team to operate, so it’s always good to have that level of freedom while you’re working at a company as well.

What advice would you give someone joining Capgemini?

Figure out what you want to do. Where do you see yourself in two years? Five years? Whatever it is that you want to do. And then set goals for yourself, and set objectives for yourself as well. What do you want to accomplish this year? What do you want to see yourself accomplish next year, and the year after? Once you know what you really want to be, what you want to do, where you want to be at in three years, five years, there’s going to be opportunity within Capgemini to get you there. You just have to take that leap of faith and you’ll be there.

How is Capgemini helping you get the future you want?

By providing us opportunities, for every employee. You just have to figure out and decide what it is that you want to do, where you want to go. Capgemini has a framework that gives you the opportunity to achieve that. Once you set a goal for yourself, all functions work together to make sure that it happens for you. And that’s the benefit you get at working at Capgemini.
