Capgemini becomes first to receive the SAP Sovereign Cloud Partner designation

The designation confirms Capgemini’s ability to design, deploy, and operate SAP cloud environments that meet strict sovereignty requirements across data, infrastructure, and operations

Jun 11, 2026

Paris, June 11, 2026 – Capgemini today announced that it has been recognized as SAP’s first partner to achieve  the SAP Sovereign Cloud Partner designation. This milestone demonstrates Capgemini’s leadership in sovereign cloud and delivers on the Sovereign Technology Partnership announced in November last year. As the first SAP partner to achieve this status, Capgemini is setting the industry benchmark for how enterprise cloud and AI transformation are delivered in sovereign environments.

This recognition, currently applicable in France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, confirms Capgemini meets the high standards set by SAP across data residency, operational control, governance, security, and delivery capability. It enables clients globally to accelerate AI-driven transformation while retaining control over their critical systems and sensitive data.

Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE said, “Europe’s ability to compete globally depends on combining innovation with strong digital sovereignty. Capgemini’s achievement of this SAP Sovereign Cloud Partner milestone reflects the capabilities required to deliver sovereign cloud at scale. Together, we are supporting organizations in deploying AI and cloud technologies in environments aligned with their requirements.”

Fernando Alvarez, Chief Strategy and Development Officer and member of the Group Executive Board at Capgemini, said, “As organizations accelerate their use of AI, digital sovereignty has become a core requirement for resilience and long-term competitiveness. Being the first SAP partner to achieve this recognition illustrates our leadership in this space. We have the capabilities to deliver and are already doing so, helping clients transform their critical systems in sovereign environments and scale AI across the enterprise, with full control over their data and operations where they need it.”

Building on its longstanding partnership with SAP, Capgemini delivers sovereign transformations for clients across highly regulated sectors, including public sector, financial services, and energy and utilities. For example, Capgemini has just been appointed by  HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as a Migration Delivery Partner to support the modernization of its Enterprise Tax Management Platform (ETMP), a critical system supporting the UK. Capgemini will support the migration of the platform to SAP S/4HANA and SAP’s Sovereign Cloud solutions in the UK, helping to maintain a secure, resilient, and compliant environment in line with UK public sector requirements. Supporting over 50 tax regimes and processing more than £875 billion annually, the transformation will  play a key role in serving millions of taxpayers and over 40,000 HMRC employees. This work forms part of HMRC’s wider transformation of its technology landscape, focused on improving performance, strengthening resilience and maintaining continuity of critical services.

By combining Capgemini’s expertise in data management, migration, AI governance, and sovereign cloud operations with SAP Sovereign Cloud solutions, Capgemini enables clients to modernize critical systems and scale AI across the enterprise to deliver concrete business outcomes and measurable returns on their investments.
