Your Training and Development Journey

Working alongside a world-class team with a wealth of consulting and industry experience, you will begin to create relationships across the organisation and acquire a foundation of consulting skills, tools and methodologies to help you accelerate your career. You will be part of a project team, building trust-based relationships at the heart of a client’s organisation, helping them change the way they work and transform their business to achieve their goals. You will get early responsibility and build your skills through interesting and challenging work.

A development path tailored to your management consulting ambitions starts with an intensive induction which equips you with the skills to succeed on a client site. These range from how to structure a presentation to process mapping, reading project charters or conducting financial analysis. You will get the chance to learn from experienced consultants and subject matter experts. At socials and networking events, you will get to know colleagues and senior people from across the company on a more informal basis.

Upon completion of the 3-month Institute period, where you will learn core consulting skills and gain a broad understanding of the range of clients we work across, you will then move into a specialist area for the remaining time of the programme. Throughout this time, you will gain access to Capability or Sector specific experience, training and knowledge.

A heavy emphasis is placed on your development and being able to learn a variety of skills in several learning environments. During the programme you will benefit from wider learning opportunities and can choose from a suite of accreditations.

ASE/AIE Rotation

Graduates within the Accelerate Programme have a fantastic opportunity to spend 3-months working in Capgemini’s well-known Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) or Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE). The AIE’s mission is to inspire our clients to transform the world by applying emerging technologies and ideas, using design thinking and quick build to drive innovation and business. The ASE helps clients solve problems collaboratively by bringing together senior stakeholders from multiple business areas. This varied and fast-paced work gives you insight into the workings of leading companies. There is a application process and a certain set of performance requirements for you to be eligible to complete an ASE/AIE rotation.

The Accelerate Programme offers the following accreditations:

Agile Scrum Master and Product Owner

This course provides a thorough introduction to Agile methodologies, specifically for those looking to adopt Scrum framework and scaling approaches. This accreditation will allow you to learn when to use such approaches, encountering practical examples in the process.

Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that relies on collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste, combining Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate the 8 kinds of waste.

Learning and Development Opportunities

There is a plethora of online/face to face/e-learning modules which you will get access to and have specific time allocated to ensure you that you continue your learning journey from day 1 to end the of the Accelerate Programme. An example of some of the core Accelerate consulting training courses are as follows:

Core Financial Analysis

This is designed to teach consultants financial analysis tools and techniques so that they can perform financial analysis in both the public and private sector. This course complements a number of our other core courses. It is essential for anyone who has limited direct experience of managing finances and budgets.

Introduction to Operating Model

This introductory training course is intended to up skill Associate Consultants in what an operating model is and how we deliver them for our clients. We discuss the key principles and delivery methodologies to deliver an operating model project within different sectors.

How to be a Successful Business Analyst

This course explores business requirements analysis within the context of Agile and Waterfall project delivery. The objectives of the course are as follows:

  • To gain a strong understanding of BA’s roles and responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle
  • To understand the business analysis process model and be able to perform activity at each stage
  • To learn practical techniques to efficiently and effectively elicit requirements

To achieve these objectives the course takes you on an interactive journey through the lifecycle of a project from a business analyst perspective equipping you with the essential tools and techniques to be able to succeed at in any business analysis role. Key areas covered are stakeholder management, requirement types, requirement gathering and documenting, use cases and business activity modelling.

Support Structure

The support structure within Capgemini Invent is a huge asset for your professional and personal growth.

A Personal Development Manager oversees your professional development and acts as the main contact for career progression and development queries. In addition to this, you will also be assigned a Performance Coach who offers support for performance related queries.

Informal support for personal development ranges from a personal buddy – a more experienced graduate consultant to help you settle in – to a Performance Coach. These Performance Coaches are the main points of contact for involvement and development within your Capability team.

Aside from this there are many avenues of support ranging from HR partners to personal mentors all to assist in your personal and professional development throughout your time on the Accelerate Programme.
