Meet Aaron Love – Graduate Management Consultant at Capgemini

For Aaron, being a Graduate Management Consultant at Capgemini has been a transformative experience. From navigating complex stakeholder environments to shaping strategic business cases, every day brings a new opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow. With a strong focus on impact and collaboration, Aaron has spent the past 10 months working on a major transformation project for an Australian water utility client—helping them move from vision to execution. Read on to discover their journey.

Walk us through a Day in the Life of a Graduate Consultant:

My day usually starts with a quick scan of emails and project updates over coffee (we have a barista on-site 5 days a week in Melbourne for free coffee!). I’m currently working on a long-term engagement with a utility client, so my mornings often begin with internal team check-ins or client stand-ups to align on deliverables and priorities.

Much of my day is spent synthesizing data, preparing stakeholder presentations, and contributing to the development of a business case that supports a major operational transformation. I collaborate closely with senior internal stakeholders and client leads to ensure our recommendations are both strategic and actionable.

Afternoons are typically reserved for deep work—whether that’s refining financial models, drafting executive summaries, or facilitating workshops. I also make time for learning and development, whether through Capgemini’s training platforms or informal mentoring sessions with colleagues.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Capgemini as a graduate?

Be curious and proactive. Capgemini is a place where initiative is valued, and opportunities often come to those who seek them out. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, volunteer for stretch tasks, or connect with people outside your immediate team. Before an ice-cream flavour, a movie or a song became your favourite it was a flavour you’ve never tasted, a move you’ve never watched or a song you’ve never heard. Be open-minded to new experiences, types of projects and roles and you will be shocked at what you will enjoy!

Also, don’t worry if you don’t come from a traditional consulting background. What matters most is your ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and adapt quickly. I myself have had a rollercoaster of direction changes before starting in consulting. Speaking of non-traditional backgrounds, I had started my university degree in medicine, had a reality check of not enjoying blood and gore. Pivoted 180 degrees to Econometrics and Corporate Finance, found myself enjoying the complex problem solving and team dynamics (minus the blood this time) that my degree and later on Capgemini offered. The graduate program is designed to support your growth—regardless of where you start.

What excites you most about being a graduate at Capgemini?

What excites me most is the real-world impact we get to make from day one. As a graduate, I’ve been trusted with meaningful responsibilities, exposed to high-stakes decision-making processes and relied on for open contribution to all facets of projects. It’s both challenging and rewarding.

The variety of work also keeps things fresh. One week I might be mapping out stakeholder journeys, and the next I’m helping shape a board-level investment case for the infrastructure project. There’s always something new to learn, and the support from peers and mentors makes the journey even more fulfilling.

Can you share your career journey as a graduate?

Before joining Capgemini, as previously mentioned I started my career in medicine then quickly pivoted, moved to Sydney and started a new course. I completed my studies in Econometrics and Corporate Finance at University of New South Wales, where I developed a strong interest in strategy and transformation. I gained extremely valuable experience through various channels such as 180 Degrees Consulting, Project Everest, mentoring programs where I was able to work and be mentored by very sharp individuals from top-tier strategy consultancies, which gave me a taste of consulting and confirmed it was the right path for me. Where I moved to Melbourne and started my path at Capgemini Invent.

Since joining Capgemini, I’ve been part of a project that’s helping a major utility provider navigate a complex transformation. It’s been a steep learning curve, but also an incredible opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in a real-world context. The exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to contribute to a business case that will shape the future of essential services has been a highlight of my journey so far.

How does your work at Capgemini contribute to achieving the mission of ‘Get The Future You Want’?

To me, “Get The Future You Want” means being empowered to shape your own path while helping others do the same. At Capgemini, I’ve been given the tools, trust, and support to grow into a confident consultant. Enabling myself to take the reins and engage in my development path with the speed and momentum that I am willing to pour into my personalised learning journey.

Through my work at Capgemini, I’m helping clients make informed, future-focused decisions that will improve service delivery and sustainability. At the same time, I’m building the skills and experiences that will shape my own future in consulting. It’s a mission that resonates deeply—because it’s not just about where you’re going, but how you get there.
