Client:

Société Générale

Region:

France

Industry:

Banking and capital markets

Client challenge: After the legal merger between Société Générale and Crédit du Nord, this new bank needed to migrate the Crédit du Nord information system into the existing SG landscape.

Solution: Société Générale engaged Capgemini to support and carry out the data conversion organized around three operations: data extraction, conversion, and migration.

Benefits:

  • Support for rapid migration and merger
  • Standardization on a single IT ecosystem for greater operational efficiency
  • Accelerated digitalization
  • Improved SG’s use of data and AI

Société Générale wanted to make a strong commitment to its customers by offering them a new regional retail banking model in France that was even more accessible, responsive, and responsible.  To do so, the bank announced a network merger with Crédit du Nord to form SG.

This meant that the organizations had to consolidate their information systems to ensure company-wide standardization. Société Générale partnered with Capgemini to extract and migrate 27,000 types of data related to two million customers to the target system.

This unprecedented operation brought together two networks to create a new banking model that was divided into 11 regions. In order to realize this vision, the project team performed a historic mobilization of teams and ensured that management and all Société Générale business lines and departments had a role in the migration.

“The strength of Capgemini’s tools reassured us and enabled us to bring our project to fruition.”
