Founded in 2020, Verkor’s ambition is to scale low-carbon battery production to support Europe’s energy transition. As it moved from R&D to industrialization, the company launched its first gigafactory in Dunkirk. However, this facility required a new digital foundation to manage increased complexity and realize its full potential.

To accomplish this, Verkor partnered with Capgemini to develop a new digital blueprint. Throughout this project, we have combined industry knowledge with advanced data and AI capabilities to help accelerate time-to-performance and reduce ramp-up risks. This approach is increasingly critical for industries where competitiveness depends on mastering both industrial operations and digital systems from day one.

The first batteries have already been produced in Dunkirk, marking a critical milestone in the ramp-up journey. More importantly, the project positions Verkor to scale production with greater control over quality, cost, and operational efficiency.

Beyond the plant itself, this digital foundation creates a replicable model for future gigafactories and strengthens Verkor’s ability to integrate new AI technologies and continuously improve performance over time.

Capgemini is leveraging this experience to support industrial players facing similar first-of-a-kind challenges, particularly in complex, capital-intensive environments. Our expertise in digital manufacturing, IT architecture, and data platforms enables companies to design factories that are digital by design and ready to scale.
