MUMBAI, October 25, 2021 – Capgemini India today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in India to further support the Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) goals of its Indian and global clients. Capgemini and TERI plan to address opportunities in India and rest of the world through collaborative research, ideation and solutions around sustainability.  The collaboration aims to leverage both the domain expertise and research capabilities of TERI, and Capgemini’s experience in the areas of net zero climate strategy, new business models, sustainable products & services, responsible investing, sustainable supply chain operations, sustainable IT, and using Data & AI for improving ESG performance.

As part of this collaboration, Capgemini also intends to leverage its sustainable advisory and digital expertise while integrating domain industry capabilities of TERI across clean & renewable energy, water management, carbon sequestration, climate change and overall sustainability management for its new and existing clients.

Sustainable IT is one of the building blocks of Capgemini’s global sustainability offering framework. Recently, Capgemini unveiled its comprehensive Sustainable IT offerings, designed to help clients reduce their IT carbon footprint. The Group has set a goal to enable its clients to reduce their carbon emissions by 10 million tons CO2e by 2030. The partnership with TERI further reaffirms Capgemini’s position to support its clients on their sustainability journey.

“At Capgemini, we have put action on climate change at the heart of our business strategy and our sustainability services are aimed to support our clients in their journey to Net-Zero by defining their vision and pathway to decarbonization. Through this agreement with TERI, Capgemini will strengthen its domain capability in providing sustainability as a service to clients. This is an India initiative which will be leveraged globally as well,” said Sandeep Bhatia, MD, Capgemini Invent, India.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General, from TERI said, “As we look towards a green recovery from the COVID economy meltdown and tackle the adverse impacts of climate change, India needs new solutions. Our partnership with Capgemini focuses on developing technologies that shall meet our future needs. Consumers are at the heart of this movement – companies will follow where consumers take them. Hence, it is important to tell consumers what is possible. We will need to create excitement for people at large about sustainability”.
