I’m Anju Banthia, an Experience Design Architect based in Mumbai. Over the last 18 years, my journey has grown from graphic print media design into creating digital experiences that truly connect with people. Today, I bring together design thinking, user insights, technology, and Generative AI to simplify complex problems and turn ideas into intuitive, meaningful experiences users enjoy.

Can you talk about your experience of learning at Capgemini?

Capgemini provides a strong ecosystem for continuous learning and growth. Throughout my journey, I’ve had opportunities to upskill through certifications and programs in Design Thinking, Prompt Engineering, SAFe Architecture, Generative AI, and enterprise design practices. What I value most is that learning goes beyond formal training. Through real-world project experiences, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing sessions, I’ve been able to stay updated with evolving design trends, tools, and emerging technologies while continuing to grow and evolve as a design leader.

Tell us about the Capgemini culture.

For me, Capgemini’s culture is all about collaboration, trust, and inclusion. People are encouraged to be themselves, share ideas, and learn from each other. What I value most is the strong sense of community, whether through teamwork, mentoring, or inclusion initiatives. It’s a supportive environment where you feel confident to take ownership, experiment, innovate, and grow.

What project at Capgemini are you most proud of?

One project that is very close to my heart was leading the UX transformation for enterprise analytics platforms in the Healthcare domain. When we began, the ecosystem was quite manual, time-consuming, fragmented, and spread across multiple systems, which often led to disconnected experiences and data errors. The challenge was about reimagining how people interact with data. We created a unified, scalable design framework and intuitive dashboards that helped leadership and operational teams make real-time, informed decisions. Seeing complex data become clear, actionable insights, and knowing it improved decision-making, was truly fulfilling for me.

Was there a specific Capgemini program or initiative that played a key role in your journey?

One initiative that truly changed my journey was Capgemini’s Career Comeback program. After becoming a mother, I faced health challenges and had limited support at home. What began as maternity leave gradually turned into a year-long career break. While I was grateful for the precious moments with my child, I also felt uncertain about returning to work and rebuilding my confidence. The program gave me exactly the support I needed to restart. Through learning platforms, meaningful project opportunities, supportive leaders, and encouraging colleagues, I was able to rediscover myself and embrace new technologies with confidence.

What challenges did you face in your journey, and how did Capgemini help you overcome them?

Just as I was settling back into my career, I was diagnosed with Stage III cancer. The treatment, surgery, and recovery brought many physical, emotional, financial, and mental challenges. There were moments of uncertainty and self-doubt. What truly helped was the empathy and support from my leaders, colleagues, and HR team. Their flexibility and encouragement gave me the space to focus on recovery while staying connected to my professional purpose.

What piece of advice would you give to a new joiner starting in your role?

Don’t rush to design solutions. First, understand the problem, users, and context. Ask questions, challenge assumptions, and learn from others. Don’t fear complexity, because it often leads to meaningful opportunities. The world of experience design is constantly changing, and your ability to adapt will define your growth.
