Hi, I’m Alok Das, a Program Architect in Capgemini’s Duck Creek Insurance Practice Centre of Excellence. I work closely with global insurance clients to design and deliver Duck Creek–based solutions, guide large delivery teams, and ensure scalable, high‑quality outcomes across complex insurance transformation programs.

How does a usual day working at Capgemini look like?

A typical day at Capgemini is dynamic and collaborative. I engage with client stakeholders to understand business priorities, work with delivery teams on solution design and execution, and ensure alignment on quality and timelines. Alongside project delivery, I also spend time mentoring team members and contributing to practice‑level initiatives within the Duck Creek CoE.

What are the must-have skills needed to be successful in your role?

Strong Duck Creek technical expertise is important, but long‑term success comes from a blend of problem‑solving ability, soft skills, and a client‑focused mindset. As you move into senior roles, understanding the business context, guiding teams, and making effective decisions become just as critical as hands‑on technical skills.

Can you talk about your experience of learning at Capgemini?

Capgemini provides a strong and well‑structured learning ecosystem, especially within the Duck Creek practice. As a Duck Creek Premier Partner, we get early access to new Duck Creek product releases, tools, and learning modules, which allows us to stay ahead of the curve and apply the latest capabilities directly on client engagements.

There are clear opportunities for cross‑module exposure, certifications, and continuous upskilling, and learning is closely aligned with real project delivery. This enables professionals to build deep, end‑to‑end expertise across the Duck Creek platform.

Tell us about the Capgemini culture.

Capgemini’s culture is highly collaborative and people‑centric. Leadership is approachable, teams are supportive, and knowledge sharing is actively encouraged. There is a strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect, creating an inclusive environment where people feel empowered to grow and contribute meaningfully.

What project at Capgemini are you most proud of?

One of the most impactful projects I worked on was for an Australian insurance client. The engagement followed a large offshore delivery model and involved significant complexity and tight timelines.

During the COVID pandemic period, I travelled to Australia to work closely with the client during critical phases of the program. Despite the challenges, the team successfully delivered the solution, and the entire application was moved live into production, making it a major milestone for both the client and Capgemini. The project significantly strengthened Capgemini’s Duck Creek presence in the ANZ region.

Can you share a story of how your work at Capgemini made a positive impact with a client?

The successful delivery of a large‑scale insurance transformation program in the ANZ region created a strong positive impact from both delivery and business perspectives. By consistently meeting complex requirements and timelines, the team was able to build a high level of trust with senior client stakeholders.

This success directly contributed to Capgemini being awarded additional insurance engagements in the region, driven by the confidence and reputation established through this program. The account continues to be one of the most valuable insurance engagements, reinforcing Capgemini’s position as a trusted Duck Creek implementation partner.

What piece of advice would you give to a new joiner starting in your role?

I strongly believe in effective work-not just hard or smart work. Stay focused on delivering value and outcomes. Capgemini provides a strong ecosystem, learning opportunities, and exposure to global programs. How much you grow ultimately depends on how proactively you leverage these opportunities.
