“Rugby is a team sport in which you can’t accomplish anything without the rest of your teammates. The guy who scores a try doesn’t think he’s king of the world, because he knows it’s the result of teamwork.”

Serge Kampf, founder of Capgemini

Capgemini has a historic connection with rugby and a deep heritage in rugby sponsorship. Our founder, Serge Kampf was passionate about the sport and all that it represented – and indeed, ever since the Group’s creation, Rugby has been in our DNA!

“At Capgemini, the principles of diversity and inclusion are a source of creativity, innovation, and inspiration for us. To further strengthen our commitment, we are delighted to partner with IRFU for Rugby 7s as this marks a new chapter in our association with Rugby and our first entry into sports in India. We believe this association with IRFU is in many ways an embodiment of our core brand values of team spirit and fun, coupled with our commitment to creating inclusive workplaces.”

Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini in India.

Our association with Rugby India aligns closely with our Group’s belief and commitment to promoting Diversity & Inclusion, both on and off the field. We are working to create equal opportunities for all, address bias, and equip our people with the skills to be truly inclusive leaders. We support initiatives alongside Rugby India to promote Women in Rugby.

“Sports brings people together through shared experiences and has been driving exceptional engagement with the younger audiences. Rugby India’s ‘Get into Rugby’ program is aimed to make the sport accessible to children of all gender and backgrounds and is perfectly aligned with the principles of diversity and inclusion at Capgemini.”

Sarika Naik, CMO & Chairperson of Diversity at Capgemini in India.

Meet The Rising Stars Of Rugby!

To further strengthen this partnership, we are delighted to highlight our passion for sports through the launch of our short films while encouraging players of all ages and genders to pursue rugby. The tales of some of these players are an anthology of inspiration, as it portrays their upbringing from an orphanage to farm fields. From their conventional world, they moved to the world of scrums, rucks and mauls, goose steps, and grubber kicks by defying all odds. Watch as they blaze their own trail and inspire others to do the same!

Rugby in India has a rich history and heritage dating back to 1872. The Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) also known as Rugby India, founded in 1998, is the sole governing body for the sport of rugby in India.

Recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Govt. of India, Rugby India is also a full member of World Rugby, Asia Rugby, and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The body is responsible for the growth & development of the sport of rugby across the country from the grassroots to the high-performance level. Today, the sport is played actively in 27 States & Union Territories, 350+ Districts, 2000+ Schools & Universities in India and by over 100000+ players.

“The story of the growth of Rugby as a sport in India is a story of diversity and inclusion. Today our women’s program is as strong as our men’s, our outreach to tribal youth in different parts of the country is as deep as in non-tribal areas, our commitment to spreading the sport amongst underprivileged populations is as sharp as it is to those who live in more fortunate circumstances. Therefore, to partner with Capgemini who uphold the principles of diversity and inclusion, was a seamless decision. Their values mirror ours. And it is with their belief and support that Rugby India pledges to a greater commitment to these values on our path to excellence and garnering laurels for the country”

Rahul Bose, President, Rugby India (IRFU).
