Strategy and transformation

The diversity that I value in Capgemini also applies to people – starting with clients operating in various industries and countries, thanks to which I have the opportunity to learn about various organizations from the inside and have a daily contact with people from all over the world.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I get the impression that when working in consulting, there is no such thing as a typical working day. It all depends on the project, at which stage I am involved in, and the client I am working for at the time.

My average working time boils down to a mix of two types of activities every day. The first is related to working on the documentation and preparing for a meeting with the client, i.e. preparing process documentation, presentations, all kinds of deliverables required by clients and making the research necessary to have the required knowledge on a given topic. This is complemented by meetings and workshops with both the project team and the client, during which we thoroughly analyze the client’s needs and situation, as well as present and work together to develop solutions for the client.

If there is time, sometimes there is a third type of activity. in my day, i.e. all activities that are not directly related to the project to which I am currently assigned. These are participation in internal team initiatives, short-term support on other projects, assistance to team members in ad hoc tasks or participation in additional courses and training.

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

Personally, what I like most about working at Capgemini is the entrepreneurial and unique way of working – the same project (e.g. SSC set up) based on the same standard stages may look unlike, take up completely different periods of time, and be run in various ways due to the client, the industry in which the client operates, and their personal preferences. Thanks to this, no two projects are alike and I always get to work on diverse projects.

The diversity that I value in Capgemini also applies to people – starting with clients operating in various industries and countries, thanks to which I have the opportunity to learn about various organizations from the inside and have a daily contact with people from all over the world. Due to the fact that my work requires cooperation with many people and involves frequent changes of coworkers, I get to meet really interesting people, learn a lot from them, spend time in an interesting way, and I never get bored at work.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

What I’m proud of is the company’s approach to employees. This includes numerous actions to make our day at work more pleasant, the possibility to implement our own projects with the company’s support, strong communication between the company and employees, efforts to raise visibility on socially important topics, involvement in social actions, and the attention given to our immediate surroundings – all that is really admirable!

I am proud that in business, Capgemini strives to be a market leader and is able to provide services adapted to rapidly changing trends and technologies. Continuous development on a par with the changing world and, at the same time, enabling employees to acquire this knowledge makes Capgemini a company that is able to provide great opportunities for both personal growth and professional advancement.

No matter what you want to do in the future, Capgemini is a great stepping stone for your career.

How are you working towards the future you want?

As a Senior Business Transformation Analyst, my goal is to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to become an independent consultant in the future and thus to be involved in projects that require more and more expertise.

I am lucky to be part of a team in which any wish to test myself in a new role or participate in a specific type of project is taken into account and – whenever possible – put into practice. For example, recently I reached out to my manager for support in my skill development and she was more than happy to guide me in moving to a new project which would help me learn new skills and work on new technologies.

Whenever possible, I try to take advantage of opportunities to gain experience in various activities, even those exceeding the scope assigned to my grade, and also apply for help to gain confidence in the direction I want to develop in, and define the future that will be the most interesting for me.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

Definitely start getting to know your coworkers from day one as they will be working alongside you for the months to come. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your team mates and ask even what might seem like foolish questions every time you feel you’re lost in your tasks or you need any kind of help. As we are working together on projects it’s really important to maintain a good relationship with colleagues, grow your visibility within your team as a team player, and know whom to reach out to on a specific topic when you need some advice.

Moreover, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and say yes to the new opportunities that will arise, even if they seem to be beyond your ability.
