Tell me about your career journey and how you ended up at Capgemini.

My career journey and how I ended up at Capgemini is a bit of a funny story. I actually started at Capgemini as a campus hire back in 2021. I studied at the University of Texas at Dallas — I majored in mathematics, and originally, I wanted to go into academia. However, I had a mentor at college who suggested that before I go on to grad school, I should gain some industry experience. And that’s what led me to Capgemini. I just fell in love with the people, our clients, and the work — so I’ve been here ever since.

What is your current role and what does a day-to-day look like for you?

My main role is in the technology industry as a staffing manager. I manage the end-to-end submission process for all staffing needs coming in. So, a typical day in my role involves a mix of strategic planning and hands-on problem-solving. I spend time analyzing project needs, working closely with leadership and service lines to align talent with our business goals, and ensuring that our people have the right skill sets to succeed. I also collaborate with internal staffing managers from the service lines to address any challenges, balance workloads, and optimize resource allocation.

Additionally, I’m the president of our OCEAN ERG, which is our sustainability-focused employee resource group here at Capgemini. My day often involves strategizing ways to engage our members, plan impactful events, and collaborate with other internal teams and ERGs to drive community engagement — which is something very near and dear to my heart.

No two days at Capgemini are exactly the same for me — it’s dynamic, and I think that’s what keeps the job so exciting.

How did you end up joining OCEAN and eventually becoming a leader of the ERG?

Great question! So, OCEAN originally started out as a smaller group — it wasn’t a formal ERG yet. I was invited to come and give a talk on composting. I actually have my own worm composting bin where I take my food scraps, feed them to the worms, and they create fertilizer, which I then use in my garden. It’s just a very eco-friendly way of recycling food waste and giving back to the earth.

After that composting session, the team said, “You should join us!” — and that’s how I got started with the sustainability group. From there, that small group blossomed into what is now the OCEAN ERG.

Yeah, absolutely. I’m very passionate about sustainability, and I’m always keeping my eyes open for roles in that area. But I also believe that even if you’re in a more traditional role, you can still drive sustainability within your own team. For example, through OCEAN, we host digital cleanup workshops that you can take to your client teams — helping them clean up old emails, photos, OneDrive files, and more, to reduce their carbon footprint. So, even if your job isn’t directly in sustainability, there are always ways to engage with it meaningfully on any project or team.

What’s been your biggest achievement at Capgemini so far?

I won the Talent Magnet Award for 2024 for my engagement with the ERG communities. OCEAN also won the Future Shaper ERG Award in 2024, which was really exciting. But honestly, I think my biggest achievement at Capgemini has been growing OCEAN into what it is today.

We started out as just a small group of passionate employees who cared about the planet — and now we’ve grown into a full ERG with almost 600 members. We host around 20 events a year, both virtual and in person. We always plan a big celebration for Earth Week, and this year we already have 12 in-person events and 5 virtual events on the calendar.

Our motto at OCEAN is “Small ripples make big waves,” and I really think that reflects our journey. We started small, and those small ripples turned into something so much bigger.

What skills have you developed since joining Capgemini, and how have learning and development opportunities helped shape your career?

I’ve developed so many skills since joining Capgemini. I came in as a campus hire, so everything in the corporate world was pretty new to me.

One of the biggest personal skills I’ve improved is public speaking. I used to have a lot of anxiety around it, but Capgemini provided resources and trainings that really helped me grow in that area — and I’m so grateful for that.
