Engagement Manager

Experienced professionals

Tell me about your career journey and how you ended up at Capgemini.

I began my career as a French translator and switched gears several times, doing roles such as research assistant (macro-economics), content writer and editor, French translator once again that included a short stint at Capgemini, and even teaching.

In 2016, I rejoined Capgemini as a Reporting Analyst. From there I have worked in client operations as a PMO for around 2.5 years, during which I moved to Canada. I began working as an Engagement Manager (EM) shortly after. I then completed my EM certifications to support my growth in this role.

What is your current role and what does a day in your life look like?

My typical day as an Engagement Manager consists largely of meetings with the team, the client, or other internal stakeholders. I also spend time updating documents and reporting tools, preparing reports, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned, tracking overall project progress, and in general supporting the team to keep the project within its KPIs – all this and then some gets done with a large cup of piping hot coffee!

What’s been your biggest achievement at Capgemini so far?

Honestly, each of my achievements has been a milestone in my career here at Capgemini and I am proud of everything I have achieved. Most recently in 2024, I received recognition in Q2 and Q4 for my contributions and overall performance.

There have been some major turning points in my career trajectory, like the transition into the client operations PMO role, the successful process implementation for a client’s operations, becoming a Project/Engagement Manager and consistently delivering several successful projects.

To formalize myself as a PM, in 2020 I went back to study and gain the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which I renewed in 2023.

It’s always a great feeling to be able to give back. To that end, I have created a guide on how to earn PDUs (Professional Development Units) to keep one’s PMP active and valid and conducted an information session on what PMP is all about. I continue to look for more such opportunities.

What’s the most exciting initiative you’ve worked on?

In 2024, OCEAN Employee Resource Group kicked off an initiative along with Women@Capgemini and Mentoring Matters ERGs to set up a Toastmasters Club in Capgemini NA, with sustainability as a vision, in line with that of Capgemini. It was my good fortune and privilege to play a part in the founding process of Capgemini Voices for Sustainable Futures Toastmasters Club. As an active club member, I have found consistency to be the key to benefit greatly from what the club offers. It is helping me improve my verbal and non-verbal communication, self-confidence, inter-personal skills, and also network and learn from others in the club. All of this encouraged me to take the next step beyond the club into the larger world of Toastmasters.

It was during an ERG meeting that I found out about the Toastmasters initiative and jumped at the chance to contribute and participate.

Being a part of these ERGs and attending different events has given me the opportunity to network and meet people from other streams, improve my understanding of important and pertinent matters such as diversity and inclusion, equity, environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and ameliorate my self-confidence and communication skills, among other things.
