Capgemini UK Makes Sustainable Procurement a Priority

| News alert
Capgemini UK puts sustainable procurement into practice with an 18-month pilot project.

Understanding the potential sustainability and social impacts of our supply chain is a crucial component of Capgemini’s commitment to Corporate Responsibility. With its 18-month Sustainable Procurement Program, Capgemini UK is gaining important insights that will guide the development of a global initiative.

Throughout 2007, Capgemini UK has been working with suppliers, contractors and alliance partners to evaluate the potential risks, impacts and opportunities of its activities in relation to the products and services it purchases.

Under the Sustainable Procurement Program, all new suppliers are subject to an online questionnaire which helps Capgemini UK identify companies that require more detailed assessments. Existing suppliers that were classified as high-risk and those with whom Capgemini has a significant relationship have been assessed using a Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Questionnaire.

Joint action is taken to address existing sustainability risks or impacts and, when appropriate, Capgemini may choose not to work with a particular supplier. With this program, Capgemini UK is not only managing its own risk, but also encouraging continuous improvement among its suppliers in the management of their businesses and supply chains.
