This global alliance with SAP, combined with the recognition of Capgemini’s capabilities to deliver and manage SAP applications via its cloud delivery platform, will provide existing and new customers with additional hosting options, in addition to technical support and other benefits from SAP for applications hosted in the cloud, such as scalability and resilience.
To achieve this global certification, Capgemini hosting and cloud infrastructures were subjected to extensive testing and audited by SAP to validate that its offerings conformed to SAP’s high standards and were suitable to host mission-critical SAP applications. Strategic geographic locations were evaluated across three continents (North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific). The assessment included the entire service offering, from the physical infrastructure to policies and procedures, the SAP technical competency of multi-national staff and Capgemini’s overall ability to deliver a global service backed by Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Thanks to this certification, Capgemini can now offer global cloud services for SAP solutions on a user-based consumption model. By providing on-demand access to a pool of configurable infrastructure resources (e.g., connectivity, storage, SAP applications), services can be promptly provisioned and released with minimal management effort. This facilitates real-time alignment between IT and business objectives by adjusting resources to meet changing demands. Other business benefits include:
- Rapid Elasticity – Businesses can leverage scalable infrastructure for peak loads and seasonal variations through ubiquitous network access
- Improved Business Agility – Faster time-to-service and higher resource utilization through dynamic enablement of pre-provisioned resources that match end-user and business demands
- Predictable Performance – Modular scalability that connects servers and storage devices in a converged fabric design and protects service continuity
- Improved Utilization – Increases total utilization by freeing and repurposing trapped capacity to support applications
- Resiliency and Standardization – Improves risk mitigation and flexibility to support applications and accelerates standardization to enable higher levels of automation and increase productivity
Capgemini will offer its services through two delivery models. One is the Community Cloud – where resources are operated in a shared infrastructure model delivered via private networks, offering the ability to provide benefits similar to those of a public cloud while mitigating data security, corporate governance and reliability concerns. The other delivery model is by Private Cloud – where resources are operated solely for one organization on site or off site and delivered via private networks, offering the ability to deliver benefits similar to those of a Community Cloud for companies that have more stringent security, audit and compliance requirements.
Capgemini’s cloud services will enable the delivery of a suite of industry vertical software-as-a-service offerings, as well as applications from SAP, such as SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SAP SRM), SAP ERP Human Capital Management (SAP ERP HCM) and SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM).
Sandy Padayachee, Hosting Business Unit Leader, Capgemini, said, “We are delighted to receive this global certification from SAP, which adds to our recent local certification in numerous geographically diverse service centers, including the United States in August 2010. This global certification is just further evidence of our commitment to SAP as a Global Partner. Our collaboration will help customers to take advantage of growing cloud solutions that are flexible, cost-effective, secure, innovative and most importantly aligned to business objectives.”
