A helping hand during troubled times

After excelling in her course, Digital Academy graduate Chanchal Gupta has been able to financially support her family

Chanchal Gupta, a software associate at Capgemini in Mumbai, went through a difficult time last year.

Her family faced several financial losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Chanchal, who holds a BSc degree in IT, decided to take up a job to help them during this difficult time. She faced yet another series of disappointments when she found that despite her relevant qualifications, she lacked the skills required in most organisations.

Around the same time, she learnt about Capgemini’s Digital Inclusion of Young Aspirants (DIYA) programme, which is run by the Anudip Foundation. DIYA is part of Capgemini’s Digital Academy initiative, which aims to educate disadvantaged individuals in technological skills required in the 21st century workplace.

Chanchal enrolled for the Diploma in Dot Net Full-Stack Developer, where she learnt programming skills like CSharp, MySql and Full Stack, along with essential soft skills that are required in the workplace.

After excelling in her course, Digital Academy graduate Chanchal Gupta has been able to financially support her family. Chanchal was an enthusiastic participant in the mock interviews, which are one of the training modalities for soft skills. It was at one such session that her zeal caught the attention of the Capgemini team and she was offered a job soon after.

Given Chanchal’s modest upbringing, her parents are proud that she has been able to reach such heights. The ambitious youngster is now helping her father revive his business and rise above the difficulties of the past year.
