Asset value recovery: enabling utilities to transition from a linear to a closed loop circular economy

Renewable energy sources such as wind, solar photovoltaic and batteries, are essential for transition to climate neutrality. International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA-PVPS) forecast that a substantial amount of renewable equipment EOL will appear in the early 2030s, and that, by 2050, it will be 60–78 million tons. Recycling or repurposing renewable infrastructure can unlock enormous value. Digital transformation and data technologies can be leveraged to address the challenges that industries face in adopting circularity in managing asset lifecycle from cradle to grave.
