Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

In my current project I’m part of the digital transformation of the client, bringing all their applications to the Cloud. That means I spend my day analyzing the current applications, interviewing all kinds of developers and analysts, and developing a plan for the code migration. I regularly stay connected with the client to keep them up-to-date and to gather their inputs on the ongoing projects. It’s the perfect balance of technical work and relationship building, which I enjoy a lot.

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

From the first day of my internship to moving into a full-time hire role I have experienced the warm, friendly, and fun atmosphere that is part of our company culture. Having worked in different teams and communities, and have only come across knowledgeable and supportive colleagues. I can turn to them and my mentor here at Capgemini for all questions related to client projects, but also for guidance in how to achieve my personal and professional ambitions and help me shape my career path by selecting the right projects, getting help to network with relevant stakeholders, and being introduced to newer learning paths. The community and knowledge sharing are definitely my favorite aspects of working at Capgemini.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

How are you working towards the future you want?

When I started working at Capgemini I opted to start with Low Code, as it was a technology I had never worked with before. During that time, I took many classes, earned certificates, and gained a ton of experience. While having a lot of fun with Low Code, I also wanted to work with Azure Cloud services. I shared this with my team members, and just a couple of weeks later I started at a project using Azure, while also having access to a wealth of Azure courses and videos. This support has helped me move towards the path of becoming a Cloud Architect. I also got an opportunity to train myself on project management tasks and gain experience in that area. I am more than happy with the freedom and trust given to me to shape the career I want.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

When working here you will be presented with a lot of opportunities to gain knowledge, experience, and connections with many people from all over the world. Take every chance you get, make use of the services available, and broaden your network as much as you can.

It is more than just a place to work. Make it a place to widen your horizons, strengthen your skills, and shape your future.

How has Capgemini’s support been since the pandemic began?

My mentor has been in continuous touch with me since the last year when we moved to the new normal way of working. In addition, the office coffee breaks have been replaced with virtual connects with teammates which are fun! Speed Dates initiative helps me to connect with colleagues outside of my team and to grow my network and have an informal chat about anything and everything. This is a great way to keep connected with my peers even while working from home.
