Giving wings to Orizio’s IT transformation

Client: Orizio
Region: Belgium
Industry: Aviation (Aerospace & Defense)

The Background

Orizio is one of the first sustainable aerospace and aviation player in Belgium. Founded in 2020 with Sabena Aerospace, Sabca, and the Federal Holding and Investment Company, as the key management, Orizio embarked on a transformative journey to completely optimize their IT infrastructure and operations.

Considering Capgemini Belgium has previously worked with Orizio’s partners and has been instrumental in successfully delivering several projects, Capgemini Belgium was chosen as the preferred partner for Orizio to transform their entire IT operations.

The primary objective for Orizio was to utilize and leverage Capgemini Belgium’s vast and rich expertise to integrate the IT services of Sabena Aerospace and SABCA and bring it under Orizio’s scope, ensuring cost-reduction, operational efficiency, improved service quality, and compliance with strict local industry regulations.

What our clients have to say about this project

“Capgemini has harmonized the support provided to Orizio. There is also a transformation track that has been launched, which is ongoing, and will further optimize the services, showcasing our commitment to continuous improvement and client satisfaction.”

– Miguel Laduron – Head of ICT – CIO, Orizio Group

Clearing the Runway – The Challenges

Cost Reduction: One of the major challenges of the project was to reduce IT Costs. Orizio wanted to focus on reducing the IT costs by at least 15% compared to the combined costs of Sabena Aerospace and SABCA.

Service Quality: Orizio wanted to improve and enhance their overall service quality of IT services to improve user satisfaction.

Compliance: Considering the regulatory compliance for export control and military-related activities was based on an offshore model and not compliant with local European regulations, it was essential for building a comprehensive and a critical compliance strategy in alignment with local jurisdiction.

Expansion: Orizio wanted to build an infrastructure that could seamlessly add new business acquisitions and divestitures without making heavy modifications to existing IT infrastructure.

Ready for Takeoff – Capgemini Belgium’s Solution

Assessment & Governance Meets: From Capgemini Belgium’s perspective, the challenges were addressed by deploying the right technology and the right people with experience to deliver the solution. During the entire tenure of the project, the teams initiated several operational, tactical, and strategic meetings to brainstorm on ideas and solutions that would make the project a success. These meetings also reflected on addressing operational issues, make tactical adjustments during the projects, and align IT strategies with the business objectives.

Establishing Local Presence: While the need for establishing a local governance structure to comply with regulatory requirements was initiated, considering it was one of the main challenges of the assignment, Capgemini Belgium established a local team in Belgium, with additional support from Poland and Luxembourg. This allowed for seamless and better communication, faster response time, and enhanced the overall service delivery.

Cost Optimization: An overall assessment of existing contracts and services were undertaken, and the gaps were identified. By leveraging the synergies between Sabena Aerospace and SABCA, Capgemini Belgium could successfully achieve a 15% cost reduction. This analysis also improved operational efficiency.

Technology Transformation & Modernization: Capgemini implemented a major technological transition, moving all IT infrastructure to modern private cloud, migrating to Office 365 for a seamless experience, and integrating automation processes for device management using Intune.

Private Cloud: Hosting IT services in a secure, scalable private cloud environment

Integrating Office 365: Improving productivity by moving all collaboration tools to Office 365

Remote Service: Moving away from onsite to remote. Improving service delivery and quality by providing remote support to provide timely assistance to users

Automation: Using Intune to automate device management and updates, ensuring all devices were secure and up to date.

Security: Considering we are looking at aerospace and defense, there was heavy and extensive emphasis on how the security aspects were looked at. As a part of the project, Capgemini Belgium implemented a full Security Operations Center (SOC) and deployed a SWAT team to detect and continuously monitor security threats. The team also made sure that all the regulatory compliances were met with.

The Journey to the Future

Orizio’s collaboration with Capgemini Belgium is a strong testament to the expertise that Capgemini Belgium brings in terms of technology and people. By addressing the key challenges, and implementing a cost-efficient, robust, secure, and modern IT infrastructure, Capgemini Belgium helps Orizio achieve better operational efficiency, help significantly reduce costs, improve service quality, and build a future-ready IT infrastructure. This project sets a benchmark for the aviation and aerospace industry in Belgium and can be a reference for many such exciting projects in the days to come.
