– Why did you choose to join Capgemini Engineering?

The reason why I chose Capgemini Engineering was because of the variety of opportunities that they could offer and the ability to share my knowledge and experience with younger colleagues. On the other hand, they also offered the opportunity to broaden and refine my knowledge and competencies.

– What is your current project?

Currently I’m assigned as a Project Manager in the nuclear industry. One of the installations has been shut down a couple of years ago. The scope of my project is to prepare the site to decommission the inner parts of the installations. Those processes are very complex with a lot of internal & external stakeholders and to manage different budgets.

– How do you start your typical day as a Project Manager?

My day starts with greeting the team members and listening to their story. Private or project related, it doesn’t matter. It is important to have a relationship of trust with the team members and that they feel they are always supported.

– What are the main challenges as Project Manager?

The main challenges are:

• Become familiar with the internal products and processes as quickly as possible.
• Develop an internal network of contacts and SPOC’s (single point of contact).
• Setup a clear and transparent communication plan.
• Act as a coach and motivate your team to take initiative and learn to deal with failure.
• Work in a structured and organized way.

– What do you like the most in your job?

What I like most about my job as Senior Industrial Operations Engineer – Opex & Supply Chain is the variety of industries and challenges that always cross my path. Each time a new assignment is different from the previous one and I can give it my own touch within the defined boundaries of the assignment. Due to my eagerness to learn, these types of assignments are the ideal breeding ground for developing a broader field of knowledge.

For young graduates who like variety, this job is the ideal option to quickly gain practical knowledge and experience.

– What kind of advice would you like to give to your younger self?

I would say, search for your boundaries and don’t be afraid to stretch it. Step out of your comfort zone and explore.
