I studied Information architecture at Malmö University, and while I was studying, I worked at a non-profit association with which Capgemini partnered and that is how I came across Capgemini.

I applied for the IgnITe Graduate Program  and graduated summer of 2022. It felt natural for me to be a part of Capgemini after my studies. Just knowing that Capgemini partnered with the organization I worked for as a student made me realize that Capgemini is so much more than just an “IT company”. And now that I’ve been here for a while, I’ve seen how Capgemini works and cares about making the world a better place.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

It truly depends on the day, whether I’m working on a project or not. If I’m working on a project, the day will start with a daily stand-up. A short meeting with the team catching up with everyone and ensuring that everyone gets the help they need. As an application consultant, I work with developing CRM systems for clients in different industries. So, that’s how I spend those days. When I’m not on a project, I spend my days studying different certificates and expanding my knowledge.

I am also active in some of Capgemini’s internal projects, such as being the pillar head for their ‘Digital Inclusion’ project. We focus on, as the name suggests, digital inclusion for several target groups such as the elderly and new Swedes.

What makes you passionate about your work?

Being a consultant and working on different projects has a lot of benefits. I get to meet new interesting people in different fields. I get to learn so much from my colleagues at Capgemini, but also from all the clients I meet. I have the opportunity to try out different things and work with what I feel is fun and exciting. Choose what direction to focus on in this dynamic field of work. For example, right now I’m learning more about the marketing module, and I have taken a certification on that matter, and I now have the possibility to work with future projects where that module is needed.

How are you working towards the future you want?

As I previously mentioned, apart from my role as an applications consultant, I work with Capgemini’s own project ‘Digital Inclusion’. Because inclusivity is something that I am passionate about, especially in the IT field. When I was a university student, I had a really hard time finding role models that I could relate to. Capgemini has shown me so many role models around the company and I am surrounded by so many incredible people every day here. And every one of them has the same thoughts about inclusivity. That’s the future I want.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

Join those activities Capgemini arranges outside of work. Come along to the after-work or join a club! We have a lot of activity clubs, such as sports club and arts club. It is so much fun, and you get to know a lot of new people that you maybe don’t meet at work because they work in different departments. And dare to try new things and take the initiative. I really recommend reading about Capgemini’s seven core values and identifying with one of them. Work towards that value and make the most of it.
