“I’m proud to be part of a multicultural workplace where diversity is evident in everything we do.”

I originally come from Hungary and have lived in Sweden since 2014. I have a double master’s degree in political science and German language and literature. I always found programming to be an exciting language and decided to get a degree in that area as well. After two years in higher vocational education, studying programming and front-end development, I applied to Capgemini via LinkedIn and got super happy when I landed the job.

In September I’ve been at Capgemini for four years. I started off as a front-end developer and today I also work as a team leader for a small team. My work is combined with being with customers within my assignment as a developer, and also assisting and supporting my team.

As a team leader, how would you describe your leadership?

At first, I didn’t know how I got to become a Team manager. In the beginning I didn’t have the confidence to apply for the position, but my colleagues encouraged me to – and I’m happy they did – for the opportunity truly found me. Capgemini sees potential in people without any managerial experience, and no one will know how you’ll do in a new position until you yourself take the opportunity to try out your wings.

As a manager I’m always here for my team, whether it’s coaching, development, career questions or assignment issues. I’m always available to reach out to, and at the same time, I’m prone about my teams’ thoughts in what we can create and solve together. We are consultants who are all on different assignments, that’s why it’s important to find the time and opportunity to cooperate on site.

How does Capgemini support your development within the organization?

I use a lot of the E-learning opportunities available to all employees. Capgemini offers a lot of online courses to learn and develop within certain areas. For me, I personally delve into different software development, leadership-and management courses on the train in-between customers where I’ve got the time. At Capgemini, we also have the chance to be a part of physical courses. In the end of April this year I’ll participate at the “Be the future” program where I’ll enhance my leadership skills, connect with colleagues, network and develop within the organization.

What do you think characterizes the people and the culture at Capgemini?

I’m proud to be part of a multicultural workplace where diversity is evident in everything we do. As a multinational company you can meet people from all over the world and get to know their culture. For example, we have both Diwali and Christmas party in Helsingborg.

What is the best thing about Capgemini?

Many! My colleagues, my projects, the educational opportunities, Helsingborg’s beautiful office, the Capgemini Awards, the different career roads I’m able to take, and many other things. Capgemini challenges me in a good way. As a developer I love my creative job, and as team manager, I love to coach others to help them reach their goals.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering joining Capgemini?

Be open minded and say yes to every opportunity. You’ll never know which one of your “yes(-es)” can open future doors which will lead to new paths in your career.
