I have a background in Mechanical Engineering but have always been passionate about IT and programming. I started my career in the Oil & Gas industry in the late 1990s, focusing on digital twins and virtual reality. After a few years, I moved to software development for the marine industry. Realizing my passion for IT, I joined an international startup as a developer until the IT bubble burst in 2001. I then started my own company, creating Norway’s first app store for mobile phones. Balancing this with family life was challenging, so I became an independent consultant before joining a consulting firm. In 2019, I joined Capgemini, where I now work as an advisor and project manager, managing a department of over 30 employees

What made you decide to apply to and join Capgemini?

I joined Capgemini in 2019. At that time, I had been working as an independent consultant and was enjoying the flexibility it offered. However, when I came into contact with Capgemini and the amazing people at the Trondheim office, I was convinced to join. There were primarily two reasons for this decision. Firstly, the Trondheim office had just opened, and I was intrigued by the opportunity to help to build an office from scratch. Secondly, Capgemini’s size and their excellent reputation in the market were very appealing to me. The combination of these factors made it an easy decision to become part of the Capgemini team.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

My role at Capgemini is quite dynamic and multifaceted. I serve as the Business Line Manager for Cloud & Custom Applications in Trondheim, where I am responsible for overseeing all the developers and cloud resources in our office. This involves managing teams, ensuring smooth project execution, and fostering a collaborative environment. Additionally, I work as a Principal Consultant, providing strategic advisory and architectural guidance to our clients. This dual role allows me to blend management responsibilities with hands-on consulting, ensuring that we deliver top-notch solutions to our clients while also nurturing our internal talent. 

What makes you passionate about your work?

What makes me passionate about my work is the amazing team I get to manage. I love seeing my employees grow and achieve their goals. It makes me proud to see the passion they bring to their work, and we really feel like a team working together.

When we create something new for a customer and see it making a difference, it’s incredibly satisfying and motivates me to keep going.

What do you do to help inspire your consultants? 

To inspire my consultants, I strive to be a positive role model by embodying our core values and providing constructive feedback on their work. Recognizing that each individual is motivated by different factors, I make an effort to understand what drives each person and tailor my approach accordingly. This personalized strategy helps me connect with my team and support their growth effectively.
