I joined Capgemini in the fall of 2019. At the time I was working as a Java Developer in Norway but was looking for more of a technical leadership role.

 The decision to apply to and join Capgemini was driven by a combination of factors that resonated deeply with my professional aspirations and personal values.

Firstly, Capgemini’s reputation as a global leader in consulting and digital transformation was a significant factor. I was drawn to the idea of contributing to projects that have a tangible impact on businesses and society.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I have two roles to play: At the client my role is that of a Solution Architect, and in my current assignment I am also taking on the responsibilities of a Platform Lead/Architect for Confluent Kafka.

At Capgemini, as a Managing Consultant and Team Manager, I play a role in the Business Development part of Capgemini. I leverage my technical expertise and leadership skills to bridge complex technical challenges with tangible solutions.

Beside that I am also actively looking into People Development of Capgemini which includes recruitment, mentorship, and building a high-performing team with exceptional engineering and emotional intelligence skills. Helping with recruitment for both Capgemini and the practice Blue Harvest – and mentoring the ones I help recruit.

Blue Harvest is a start-up within Financial Services and is the front runner when you need to solve complex problems with clients. On Fridays we also get to work on our own projects to make ourselves more attractive to the clients, and there is a big focus on the soft skills that are crucial as a consultant. We even have our own grading system based on Star Wars.

What makes you passionate about your work?

In essence, my passion stems from the blend of technical innovation, leadership, and people development. It’s about creating value, solving challenges, and making a difference through technology and teamwork. The dynamic nature of my work keeps me constantly learning, adapting, and striving for excellence. I am particularly passionate about leveraging my technical expertise to solve complex business problems and lead teams towards success.

How are you working towards the future you want?

Prioritizing continuous learning and skill development through various mediums, including online courses, tech blogs, forums, conferences, and podcasts, but I don’t stop at just acquiring knowledge; I ensure practical application of what I learn in my job or personal projects.

I like to be involved in both the technical and the business development and helping people through mentoring.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

The people. I feel really lucky to have such a strong support and mentoring network within Capgemini. I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing people who have been more than happy to share their knowledge and experience with me. They’ve given me great advice and guidance and have been there for me whenever I’ve needed help navigating a challenge or making a big decision. It’s been incredibly valuable for my career growth, and I’m really grateful for their support.
