Capgemini contributes to EURO-3C, a European initiative advancing secure and interoperable digital infrastructure

Paris, Madrid, September 17, 2026 – Capgemini today announced its contribution to EURO-3C, a major European initiative led by Telefónica and supported by the European Commission. The project aims to strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty and resilience through a federated infrastructure combining telecommunications, edge computing, cloud and artificial intelligence technologies. The consortium brings together 87 organizations from across Europe to advance the development of secure, interoperable digital services at scale.

EURO-3C aims to establish a federated, multi-operator and multi-vendor infrastructure spanning more than 70 edge and cloud nodes^[1] across 13 European countries^[2]. The initiative is designed to support the delivery of secure, interoperable and high-performance digital services for strategic sectors including automotive, transport, energy and public services.  By enabling real-time data processing and low-latency connectivity close to where data is generated, the network will support advanced applications ranging from connected and autonomous mobility to industrial automation and smart energy systems.

Within the consortium, Capgemini is leading the development of data sovereignty and interoperability capabilities, helping establish the trusted foundations required for secure data sharing across a federated European ecosystem. Drawing on its expertise in decentralized data spaces, the Group is embedding privacy, security and regulatory compliance by design. Capgemini is also contributing AI-powered capabilities to optimize edge resource management and support the convergence of network and computing infrastructure, enhancing performance while promoting the efficient and sustainable use of digital resources.

Building the foundations of Europe’s sovereign digital infrastructure

Capgemini’s participation in EURO-3C reflects a broader European collaboration bringing together telecom operators, cloud providers, technology companies, research organizations and industrial partners to lay the foundations for an open, secure and interoperable digital infrastructure for Europe. Through this collaborative approach, the initiative aims to strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty by reducing strategic dependencies and fostering innovation based on transparency, security and trusted data sharing. In doing so, EURO-3C seeks to lay the groundwork for advanced digital services and reinforce Europe’s technological capabilities across critical segments of the digital value chain.
