Maritime drug trafficking remains one of the most pressing challenges in ensuring security at sea, both for Portugal and across Europe. Despite advances in technology such as drones and high-definition imaging, maritime surveillance still depends heavily on extensive human observation, increasing the risk of fatigue and operational error.

In this session, we will showcase a pioneering project developed in collaboration with the Portuguese Navy/National Maritime Authority and Microsoft.

The solution leverages artificial intelligence and computer vision to automatically detect and classify suspicious vessels in real time. This innovative approach enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and speed of maritime surveillance while reducing the reliance on manual monitoring.
