12h – 12h 10 | From Challenge to Solution: What It Takes to Implement AI in (any) Industry

We will share an innovative Ai-powered data extraction solution that automates the transformation of unstructured business documents into structured formats, ensuring seamless integration into Continental’s Document Management System (DMS). This cutting-edge tool leverages advanced AI capabilities, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and cloud-based processing, to extract and standardize data from PDFs, Excel files, and PowerPoint presentations.

MAIN OBJECTIVES
  • DIGITAL INNOVATIOM: Leveraging Generative AI for the digital transformation of manual labour-dependent processes, enhancing productivity.
  • INCREASED PERFORMANCE: Increasing efficiency and accuracy by digitally streamlining the RFQ processing, reducing human error and time spent on manual data entry.
  • SCALABILITY AND REUSABILITY: Building a sophisticated, robust, and highly scalable pipeline for automation with Generative AI, ensuring reusability for other potential use-cases.

Beyond streamlining data processing for Operational teams, this project also served as a strategic opportunity for Capgemini to guide Continental through the complexities of deploying scalable, cloud-based Generative AI solutions. By leveraging Microsoft Azure powerful ecosystem, we demonstrated how AI can drive efficiency, enhance accuracy, and pave the way for future large-scale AI-driven automation initiatives.

Meet our speakers

Pedro Vaz Silva is an Engagement Manager at Capgemini Engineering, with 15 years of experience in the automotive industry. Throughout his career, he has worked as a Project Manager (13 years) and Logistics Engineer (2 years), leading multinational teams and driving the adoption of Agile methodologies (Scrum and SAFe).
He holds an MBA in Business Management & Strategy, a Master’s in Production Engineering, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Industrial Systems and Algorithms.

Catarina Rodrigues holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Universidade do Minho. Catarina’s academic journey includes significant research in computer vision and deep learning, particularly in developing AI models for medical training at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS). Now, at Continental, she focuses on leveraging generative AI to develop innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and drive business growth.
