TestBed

Accelerating innovation from concept to market

The TestBed initiative was created to help Portuguese startups and SMEs transform innovative ideas into market-ready solutions. Through access to cutting-edge digital infrastructures and specialized expertise, organizations can test, validate, and scale new products in real-world conditions, accelerating their journey from experimentation to commercialization.

As part of this national effort, Capgemini, alongside consortium leader Vodafone and technology partner Ericsson, plays a key role in supporting companies throughout their innovation journey. By combining expertise in cloud, data, AI, software engineering, connectivity and digital transformation, Capgemini helps startups validate technological solutions, overcome technical challenges and prepare their products for industrialization and market adoption.

The initiative is funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) under the National Test Beds Network programme and aims to strengthen Portugal’s innovation ecosystem by fostering collaboration between startups, technology providers, research institutions and industry players.

Executed Pilots with Startups

ActionPoint delivers an AI-powered, browser-based platform for real-time audio transcription, translation, summarization, and intelligent assistance. Through the TestBed, its solution underwent extensive usability testing and the deployment of a proprietary Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) model on GPU infrastructure, validating its scalability and performance for enterprise environments.

Algebraic AI is pioneering a new approach to artificial intelligence based on mathematics and symbolic reasoning rather than traditional neural networks. The TestBed pilot focused on benchmarking conventional AI models to evaluate the performance, explainability, and efficiency of its innovative technology, which aims to reduce dependence on data-intensive training processes.

Eavy Charging develops smart solutions for electric vehicle charging management. During the TestBed pilot, the company implemented an automatic license plate recognition system that enables sequential charging of multiple vehicles using a single charging point, improving operational efficiency for charging operators and parking facilities.

Likewise Pro specializes in IoT solutions that simplify device monitoring and management. Its TestBed pilot delivered a web-based dashboard for SmarTogether kits, offering geolocation capabilities, real-time monitoring, user interaction features, and automated alerts to enhance the management of connected devices.

LogIoTrix is developing accessible Industrial IoT solutions for data-driven operations. Through the TestBed, the company created a low-cost IoT platform capable of real-time data processing, AI-based forecasting, and cloud scalability, demonstrating how advanced industrial monitoring can be made more affordable and accessible.

Pebrasi focuses on intelligent water management solutions powered by IoT technologies. Its pilot involved the development of a smart faucet monitoring platform using ThingsBoard, enabling real-time monitoring, leak detection, remote control, and alarm management to support greater efficiency and sustainability.

Preflet develops energy optimization and smart building management solutions. Within the TestBed, the company validated both the integration of the EasyEdge platform for adaptive energy control in buildings and the use of LTE gateway connectivity to ensure continuous data collection and efficient management of IoT energy systems.

SafetyScope transforms traditional video surveillance systems into intelligent monitoring platforms using AI and computer vision. Through multiple TestBed pilots, the company validated an AI-powered camera management system, developed a chatbot for querying surveillance metrics, and trained a real-time violence detection model, further enhancing the capabilities of its Omni platform.

VirtuaCrop leverages imagery and computer vision technologies to support agricultural monitoring and land-use management. The TestBed pilot automated the transfer of images from FTP servers to cloud infrastructure, including workflow orchestration and notification processes, helping improve operational efficiency and scalability.

YourAccessibleFlight is dedicated to improving travel accessibility for wheelchair users and passengers with specific mobility needs. During the TestBed, the company developed a web scraping and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solution to automate the collection of accessibility information and power an intelligent chatbot that supports travellers throughout their journey.
