Route 25 is a pioneering initiative aiming to revolutionize mobility in Portugal by promoting innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector. Its mission is to position the Portuguese automotive industry at the forefront of the mobility value chain, with a strong focus on safe autonomous driving and sustainable transport technologies, aligned with the European CCAM (Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility) strategy.

Aveiro – Autonomous systems & smart charging

The Aveiro Exhibition Park hosted a live demonstration event showcasing cutting-edge mobility technologies, including:
– Cooperative Maneuvers between connected vehicles
– Multimodal Transport Integration with live booking and dashcam visualization
– Smart Parking with autonomous vehicle guidance
– World Model & Collective Perception, merging vehicle and infrastructure sensor data into a 3D environment
– VRU Safety & MEC Federation, using AR/VR and 5G to protect road users

Porto – Cooperative manoeuvres, 5G connectivity, Safety Monitor

A demonstration took place at the Queimódromo in Porto showcasing the Cooperative Maneuvers Module, a cutting-edge technology developed by Capgemini Engineering.

It enables collaborative decision-making between autonomous vehicles using V2X communication, supported by a private 5G network and a Safety Monitor to ensure reliability and safety in every maneuver.

Fundão – EV solutions and connected infrastructure

In Fundão we have showed our innovative solutions for sustainable and connected mobility:
5G Location Framework: real-time vehicle tracking using 5G metrics with GNSS corrections for high-precision positioning.
Vortex | OTA: seamless vehicle software updates through edge computing integrated into the city.
Smartlamppost & Soltráfego: parking sensors and EV charging embedded in existing lampposts, IoT‑connected for real-time monitoring.
Global Charging: long-distance EV route planning with real-time charger availability, pricing, and reservations.

Ílhavo – Autonomous Systems

Alongside our partners from Instituto de Telecomunicações and Nexar, we carried out critical safety tests on an autonomous vehicle in Ílhavo.

Among the highlights were two technologies from Capgemini:
– A Safety Monitor that adds an intelligent digital safety layer to autonomous driving systems.
– A private 5G network enabling real-time data streaming from the vehicle to the monitoring center, a powerful enabler for connected mobility.

Currently leading telecom R&D initiatives within a multinational engineering environment, with responsibility for innovation strategy, technology roadmap definition and senior technical leadership across multiple verticals. Actively involved in European R&D ecosystems, contributing to strategic planning, consortium building and technical leadership for publicly funded research and innovation programmes. Experience spans telecom infrastructure, defence and critical communications, automotive and mobility systems, and advanced manufacturing environments.

I am a senior professional with a multidisciplinary background spanning autonomous mobility, digital innovation and regulated life‑sciences. I lead complex, multi‑partner initiatives within Route‑25, driving governance, alignment and high‑quality execution across technical, industrial and municipal stakeholders. With deep expertise in quality and regulatory compliance, I’m focused on a results‑driven approach that strengthens decision‑making, ensures audit‑readiness and delivers impactful outcomes in demanding, innovation‑driven environments.
