Capgemini Unveils Security Operations Center in Columbia, S.C.

Services offered through the SOC help companies integrate cybersecurity into broader growth initiatives and digital transformation efforts. Together with the broad set of capabilities offered through the advanced technology and development center (ATDC) in Columbia, S.C., Capgemini is building and shaping the workforce of the future that’s needed to help clients push the limits on how technology can help their businesses grow while maintaining customer trust.

Capgemini’s North America CEO John Mullen kicked off the ceremony with remarks about how our cybersecurity capabilities – including fraud monitoring, advanced threat detection, incident response, forensics, etc. – help companies safeguard their business from cyber threats and maintain customer trust.

He explained how the SOC is one piece of Capgemini’s broader investment in the region that will bring hundreds of jobs and increased capabilities in the areas of Industry 4.0, digital, cloud, innovation and artificial intelligence.
University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides discussed its strong collaboration with Capgemini that includes curriculum development to help students learn the digital skills needed for cybersecurity positions, in addition to roles in other high-growth areas such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. Capgemini is an employer of choice for the university and actively recruits from school.

In addition, Columbia Mayor Stephen Benjamin highlighted the job growth in Columbia as a result of Capgemini’s investment in the city and why candidates are attracted to roles at the company.

Capgemini was one of the first tenants in the First Base Building in the BullStreet redevelopment project, the largest urban redevelopment project on the East Coast. The office features flexible work spaces, modular furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Spirit Communications Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies Minor League Baseball team.

Teresa Powers from the S.C. Department of Commerce welcomed Capgemini to the state and presented a gold plate featuring the state seal that will be displayed at the office.

In his remarks, John concluded by thanking local, regional, and state representatives for their fantastic support and strong collaboration at every step of the way. He also acknowledged the Capgemini employees in Columbia, and around the U.S. and world, that are helping clients imagine and realize a better future for their business.
