Capgemini Canada Indigenous Relations Policy

Capgemini Canada acknowledges that our work takes place across the traditional territories, treaty lands, and ancestral homelands of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples throughout Canada. We recognize and honor the enduring relationship that Indigenous peoples have with these lands – relationships rooted in respect, stewardship, and deep cultural connection. As we continue our work here, we are committed to ongoing learning, partnership, and meaningful action toward economic reconciliation.

Introduction

This Indigenous Relations Policy reaffirms Capgemini Canada’s commitment to reconciliation, in alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and our own Corporate Social Responsibility values.

Capgemini Canada is committed to reconciliation by building genuine partnerships grounded in respect and trust. Economic reconciliation in Canada includes ensuring Indigenous peoples have equal access to economic opportunities. By embedding Indigenous knowledge and priorities into our work, we strive to foster honest relationships, support self-determination, and open doors to opportunity, innovation, and shared prosperity.

Commitments

Through cooperation and partnerships, Capgemini Canada is committed to developing strategies and practices that support reconciliation and aim to bridge the gap between the corporate sector and Indigenous communities.

Capgemini Canada fosters capacity development through our five pillars within our Reconciliation Action Program (RAP) program: Leadership and Accountability, Building Relationships, Community Engagement, Economic Empowerment, Employment, and Sustainability.

These values serve as a foundation for how we work with Indigenous Peoples and communities, with compassion, integrity, and a commitment to building a more just and inclusive future.

Policy implementation

Capgemini Canada believes that quality, innovation, and social responsibility start with strong leadership. Our executive team sets clear expectations, fosters openness and accountability, and leads by example, through effective implementation of this policy. Capgemini Canada works closely with stakeholders including clients, partners, and subcontractors to share our principles, commitments, and goals, encouraging them to meet or exceed these standards within their own policies and practices. This policy is included in Capgemini Canada’s employee onboarding program, and managers and supervisors receive specific training and are evaluated on their ability to uphold and advance these principles. We conduct audits and annual effectiveness reviews, updating the policy as necessary and communicating our Reconciliation Action Plan.

Leadership responsibilities

Capgemini Canada’s executive team, in collaboration with our Indigenous Relations leaders, are dedicated to advancing the company’s reconciliation strategy. The executive team leads by example, modeling respectful engagement and integrating reconciliation goals into strategic planning. They oversee accountability and performance against Indigenous engagement objectives and support the development and delivery of Indigenous inclusion programs across its Canadian operations.

Community and social responsibilities

Capgemini Canada is committed to supporting Indigenous-led community programs, initiatives, and cultural events. We promote employee participation in community activities and observances and invest in programs that build cultural awareness and strengthen relationships within the communities we serve.

Economic development

To support the growth and success of Indigenous-owned businesses, Capgemini Canada proactively identifies opportunities for Indigenous vendors, encourages strong vendor relationships, and facilitates mentorship and capacity-building partnerships.

Capgemini Canada is committed to fostering a barrier-free workplace where Indigenous Peoples have equal access to career opportunities. We prioritize equitable recruitment, retention, and promotion, ensure culturally safe onboarding and inclusive HR practices, and build partnerships with Indigenous education and training institutions.

Training

We provide cultural competency and reconciliation-focused training to all employees. This training equips our team with a foundational understanding of Indigenous histories and rights and encourages ongoing learning and dialog across the organization. We partner with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to deliver educational programming.

Procurement

Our procurement policy is designed to support Indigenous businesses, raising awareness of contracting opportunities in Indigenous communities, and supporting vendor development and inclusion within our supply chain.

Indigenous Impact Network

Capgemini Canada’s Indigenous Impact Network (IIN) creates space for Indigenous employees and allies to connect, learn, and grow, while integrating Indigenous culture and values into our workplace. Through this network, Capgemini Canada fosters an inclusive work environment and sets a corporate standard for meaningful career opportunities and Indigenous ambassadorship in the IT and digital transformation spaces.
