EDF Energy renews outsourcing contract with Capgemini UK for two years

20 Nov 2014

London – Capgemini UK plc, part of the Capgemini Group, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announces a contract extension to provide a broad spectrum of IT services to leading energy company EDF Energy. The current three-year outsourcing contract was signed in 2010 and EDF Energy has exercised the option to extend the contract for two further years, until end 2015.

>
Under the extended contract Capgemini will continue to provide service desk, procurement and managed desktop services, including support for email, instant messaging and file sharing, to over 20,000 EDF Energy IT users including employees and business partners, with some services being provided by specialist subcontractors working with Capgemini as prime contractor. A key focus of the new contract is to provide consistent and standardised high-quality services for all users across all business units in the UK, with safety and security a priority.

Gary Rowan, Head of Function, Service Management, EDF Energy said*: “We are very happy with the service Capgemini provides; their level of expertise in the nuclear arena sets them apart. Capgemini has helped us achieve our goals.”

He added: “Capgemini’s collaborative approach and commitment to flexibility were important in order to future-proof  the company against developments involving additional services or user numbers, and in view of  the EDF Energy investment programme in low-carbon generation.”

For the contracted run services, EDF Energy is making best use of Capgemini’s worldwide delivery model Rightshore® with 70% of the contracted run services being delivered by onshore experts, supported by 30% offshore. There are a total of around 150 Capgemini people working on this contract.

Jon Brooke, Vice President and account executive at Capgemini for EDF Energy, said: “We are delighted to continue our business relationship with EDF Energy, which reflects the health of that relationship, our level of expertise in this sector and the fact that our team continues to do such a good job. In addition, our objectives and cultures are both very well aligned, with safety and consistency of delivery absolutely paramount.”
