Capgemini UK plc has been awarded a place on the Software
Buying Solutions
Application Solutions
framework agreement by Buying Solutions, the national procurement partner for
UK public services, covering the provision of a wide range of IT services and
products  to central and local government and other public bodies including health and
police authorities.

The contract is fully EU-compliant and is designed to save public sector organisations
substantial amounts of time and money when embarking on any IT programme involving
procurement, and to reduce risks by ensuring that suppliers have been pre-vetted
for capability, quality and cost-effectiveness.

Capgemini successfully bid for all six Lots within the new Software Application
Solutions framework agreement and becomes one of the very few companies approved
under the agreement to work on virtually any public sector IT programme. The six
Lots are:

  • Bespoke Applications
  • Customer/Citizen Relationship Management and Case Management Solutions
  • Document and Records Management Solutions
  • HR, Finance, Procurement, Transactions Management and ERP Solutions
  • Information Management Applications
  • Web Design And Content Management Services

The contract takes effect immediately and is for up to four years. Buying Solutions,
an Executive Agency of the Office of Government Commerce, part of the Treasury,
estimates the value of specific assignments undertaken by suppliers under the
new framework contracts at £1 billion.

Matt Howell, Vice President of Public Sector at Capgemini UK Technology Services, said: ‘I am delighted that we have been successful in all six Lots of the new public
sector Software Application Solutions framework agreement. The decision by Buying
Solutions follows a rigorous evaluation and selection process and is a terrific
endorsement of our capabilities in the public sector. It means that organisations
across the UK public sector can cut out much of the cost, complexity, legwork
and delays of the bidding process. As a result improvements in Britain’s public
services, and in public sector efficiency, can be achieved with significantly
greater speed and econom
y.’

Capgemini has already won a large number of contracts with government departments
and local authorities over the last four years involving an earlier framework
contract with Catalist, the forerunner to the new Buying Solutions agreement.
