Today, The Times published its Top 50 Employers for Women list of the UK organisations that are leading the way in gender equality in the workplace. Capgemini UK plc is listed for the seventh time. The list and supplement in The Times is produced in partnership with Opportunity Now, the gender campaign from Business in the Community.
The Times Top 50 is free for any employer with a UK presence to enter and involves a comprehensive submission process, managed and judged by Opportunity Now. All organisations within the Top 50 are able to demonstrate that gender equality is an integral part of their business strategy, with consistent commitment to progressing women in the workplace that covers their entire organisation, not just isolated areas.
Organisations are required to submit detailed information on their internal processes, as well as external activity that promotes gender equality, diversity and inclusion and create opportunities for women in a wider context. Each 4,500 word entry form is stringently marked against a framework of best practice and assessed anonymously by a team of gender diversity experts within Opportunity Now. The Top 50 Employers for Women is unranked, and organisations are listed in alphabetical order.

Opportunity Now knows from its rigorous benchmarking process that senior led targeted commitment, unconscious bias training in recruitment, equal pay audits and enabling flexible working directly correlate to greater parity in recruitment and progression of women in the workplace. These trends are reflected within these Top 50 organisations, with comprehensive agile working programmes dedicated to improving maternity return rates and a plethora of impactful coaching and mentoring programmes for women at every level. Additionally, there is an emerging trend in conducting regular equal pay audits and salary reviews that include gender comparisons.
The Times Top 50 Employers for Women demonstrated some or all of the following:

- Mainstreaming activity throughout multiple function areas and peer levels
- Organisational target setting
- Holding managers to account
- Changing culture, including through mandatory unconscious bias training

- Tangible impact with qualitative/ quantitative evidence
