2nd June 2023

Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo delivers must-have insights, strategies, and frameworks for Chief Supply Chain Officers (CSCOs) and supply chain leaders to think big and drive real impact within their organisations. Our Capgemini Intelligent Industry team will be at the event with a global community of CSCOs and supply chain executives to share examples of the value we create for our clients.

Capgemini is proud to be a Premier Sponsor for the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo for 2023. Our senior supply chain Vice Presidents and leaders will be attending the event to showcase our rapidly expanding portfolio of supply chain transformation solutions that are enabling our clients to navigate constant disruptions while managing risks and maximising rewards.

Our stand at the event will call attention to Capgemini’s end-to-end portfolio of offerings and showcase client use cases. Our aim is to share best practice and insights into how we have helped our clients overcome key supply chain challenges and operate more efficiently to stay ahead of the competition.

During the conference, we are presenting alongside one of our long-standing clients, Unilever. We’re exceptionally proud to showcase how we have partnered with Unilever, creating an industry leading platform that is fully integrated across the end-to-end customer operations and supply chain operational processes.

For us Gartner represents a far-reaching platform to share our key insights, expertise, and opinions on the future of supply chains. In advance of the symposium, we caught up with our attendees to gather perspectives into what we can expect to hear at the event…

Supply chains are directly impacted by the current environment of geopolitical instability, resource scarcity, sustainability concerns and recovery from the pandemic. As a result, all industries are facing increasing costs and uncertainties and so, there is a growing need for supply chain agility, resilience, and adaptability.

Further pressure is put on supply chains as customer expectations continually increase. In recent years new consumer trends have emerged which are ever-changing as new products, new business models and new service offerings are introduced. Capgemini research shows that consumers are increasingly focused on a more connected, hyper-personalised real time customer experience – and that consumers and companies remain environmentally aware as well as cost-conscious due to inflationary pressures.

The observed trends present opportunities for both the organisation and the customer. These opportunities are future-focused, such as developments in touchless, intelligent processes, faster response time and gathering data and consumer insights. They can actively support an organisation’s strategies; for example, where top global organisations are moving away from leniency given during the pandemic. Companies have higher expectations and are demanding better consistent service, unique products, commercial support, whilst also requiring better response to volatility and autonomous and seamless processes. The underlying driver for this demand stems from the macro-economic shift in today’s economy.

Capgemini has a proven history of advising, integrating, and deploying solutions across supply chain networks. An example of this is our work within the aerospace and defence industry, where recent geopolitical developments have caused an increasing yet volatile demand signal. Current supply chain operations often do not have the ability to handle instability, or to accelerate new product development and manufacturing at rapid pace, thus suppliers are finding it difficult to keep up. New digital tools and automation technologies are pivotal in overcoming long-standing supply chain challenges within the industry, such as the barrier of legacy platforms, lack of secure collaboration with ecosystem partners, and lack of access to accurate data. Capgemini can identify and sequence development of new capabilities in process, people and technology, and support clients to make more informed supply chain decisions in response to the new market conditions.

Furthermore, supply chain resiliency is key. To enable this Capgemini offers a range of leading intelligent industry tools which can unlock increased visibility of a client’s business operations. Digital supply chain mapping can be used as an example in this context which, when coupled with data, enables agile supply chain planning, traceability and better decision making for our clients, leading to increased resiliency and sustainability for their customers.

These trends are evident across any industry’s supply chain, and they are driving a multitude of opportunities such as an increase in global connectivity, end-to-end visibility, and risk management. At Capgemini, we leverage these opportunities to generate a supply chain strategy that we ultimately implement, land the change, and generate positive outcomes for our clients.

How are we best supporting our clients in the current climate?

Supply chain operations is a complex space, and the current climate is putting huge pressure on costs, margin, and ultimately profit. It is a monumental task to overcome these pressures and requires a sound strategy with exceptional execution.

The services we provide within our Intelligent Supply Chain practice address the new business and technological challenges. They enable our clients to transform (design, digitise), innovate and operate their end-to-end supply chain. We transform clients’ supply chains from design to run by leveraging our global capabilities, the full power of technology and collaboration. The path towards intelligent supply chain entails addressing critical process-driven challenges while futureproofing. To deliver this transformation, we enable organisations to have future-fit digital and technology infrastructure including composable architecture design, digital strategy, cloud enablement and advanced analytics.

Our experience of working with leading companies around the world on their intelligent supply chain transformation and innovation has provided us with strong grounding to support supply chain operations in the current climate.
