Supporting our people – our Family Friendly policies/guides

Many of us will experience difficult personal circumstances at some point in life: if and when this happens, we want to ensure our people and their families have access to the right support from Capgemini.

With this in mind, we have significantly refreshed our approach and guidance around our Family Friendly policies and guides, which are for all UK employees, regardless of length of service, sex, gender, age or race/religion.

These Family Friendly Policies are for:

  • Pregnancy/Baby Loss Support
  • Fertility Assistance
  • Compassionate & Bereavement Leave

At Capgemini, we want to make sure that when our people are impacted by personal circumstances, we have the relevant support available.

By investing in our people and their unique situations, we are creating a work place in which we can all thrive and shine.  Team spirit, collaboration, flexibility and strong ethics are the foundation of our approach to our people, and we’re proud of it.

Pregnancy/Baby Loss Support

Pregnancy/baby loss occurs in up to 1 in every 4 pregnancies, with most happening in the first trimester. The loss of a baby at any time in pregnancy can be emotionally and physically hard for all those affected, and having support you can access can make a real difference.

Pregnancy/baby loss is a private experience which will impact individuals in different ways. Capgemini is committed to supporting all employees affected, whether it happens to one of our people, their partner or their baby’s surrogate.

All employees affected are entitled to up to 10 days of paid leave which can be taken flexibly, up to 6 months following pregnancy/baby loss. We want to make sure our employees feel able to talk to someone about this difficult time and seek the help needed.

In addition to this policy, we have a number of well-being resources and inclusive employee networks on hand to support our colleagues. Educational materials on pregnancy/baby loss are also available to help raise awareness across the business.

Fertility Assistance

Fertility assistance can be used for a variety of reasons. In addition to those experiencing infertility, same sex couples or single people wanting to start a family may also need access to fertility assistance. We understand that everyone’s experience is different, and that it can be an emotional, invasive, stressful, and expensive time.

At Capgemini, our employees are entitled to 5 days paid leave for each cycle of fertility assistance (with up to a maximum of 3 cycles per year). There is also a £20,000 Lifetime cash benefit available to eligible members of the Capgemini Medical Plan following a diagnosis of infertility.

To ensure employees feel supported in this difficult time, Capgemini offers a variety of additional internal support structures as well as providing information on external support. This includes inclusive employee networks where colleagues can share experiences, well-being resources and more.

Compassionate & Bereavement Leave

We’re committed to supporting all our people as they deal with grief, emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

People are affected in different ways, so we want to provide the right support to everyone, which includes:

  • Up to 10 days paid compassionate leave
  • 10 days paid bereavement leave
  • 10 days paid parental bereavement leave which can be taken as a single block of one or two weeks, or two separate blocks of one week at different times.

In addition to these policies, we have a number of well-being resources and inclusive employee networks on hand to support our colleagues.

Menopause Support

The menopause is a natural part of life but for many, it can be difficult to navigate, especially in the workplace. At Capgemini, we recognise that making small changes to your role, working environment, or working pattern can make a big difference in helping you to manage your symptoms and in some cases, ease the impact of them.

We want all our people to feel able to talk openly and honestly about the menopause, and to seek help if and when it’s needed. To support this, we provide:

  • Flexible working
  • Peppy – a healthcare app with highly-trained menopause experts
  • Inclusive networks, such as Women@Capgemini – a space to talk to people with similar experiences and share support
  • Thrive App – for managing well-being and building resilience
