Capgemini North America secures ISO 14001 certification

04 Apr 2016

New York, April 4, 2016 – Capgemini, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announced that Capgemini North America has obtained ISO 14001 certification. Granted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) following an extensive audit, the certification recognizes Capgemini’s environmental management system for its ability to enhance Capgemini’s environmental performance, fulfill compliance obligations and achieve environmental objectives.

“Our operations impact the environment and we are committed to minimizing these impacts,” said Capgemini Senior Vice President John Christens and Executive Sponsor, North America Environmental Sustainability. “This certification recognizes the major strides we’ve made in North America to effectively implement an environmental management system that benefits not only the earth but also our business.”

According to the ISO, the 14001 standard outlines the requirements for an environmental management system that will enhance an organization’s environmental performance by managing its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner. The certification recognizes Capgemini’s efforts to identify and reduce its main environmental impact areas. For example, Capgemini is striving to reduce energy consumption and waste, and limit greenhouse gas emissions, especially from business travel.

“This achievement represents the diligent efforts of global, cross-functional teams including facilities administration, corporate responsibility and centers of excellence,” said Mel Larkins, North America Environment & Community Program Manager. “I am proud of our work and proud to be a part of a company which demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability powered by our seven core values.”

Capgemini is also ISO 14001 certified in Belgium, Brazil, Finland, France, India, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK. To learn more about its environmental sustainability initiatives, visit: https://www.capgemini.com/about/corporate-responsibility/environmental-sustainability.
