Tell me about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I am a developer working for one of the world’s largest product companies. What I do is manage and support their various websites. My roles include rebranding of the sites, development of new components, and content authoring. Daily, I am responsible for the content changes on their five sites using a content management system called Sitecore as well as working on the new component that the client has requested.

A day in my life starts with a couple of meetings with our team and responding to emails. There are always puzzles to be solved. If there are no bugs that need to be addressed, then I will focus on Capgemini meetings and my role as an Employee Resource Group (ERG) Lead, which gives me a break from coding.

How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?

One thing I love about Capgemini is the autonomy. The environment is very flexible, and I find that I can choose the specific areas, projects, and skill sets that I want to develop.

What is the best thing about working at Capgemini?

The growth and learning environment that encourages me to learn new things. I have a certification course scheduled at the end of the month that I’m excited about. It drives me to keep learning, hence growing. I see that Capgemini cares about me in my career and that is what I like the most.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

The community is what makes me proud to work at Capgemini. As a campus hire, I have received lots of support, built meaningful connections, and have been given opportunity for growth.

Tell me about your involvement with our Employee Resource Groups.

I started working at Capgemini during the pandemic, so being a part of an ERG gave me a sense of human connection beyond my immediate manager and coding. I am a National Lead with HOLA, which focuses on Latin and Hispanic employees and allies – honoring our culture through education, learning, and celebrations. Being part of HOLA, I can use my voice to bring awareness to the Latinx community. It is very rewarding; I’ve made friends with similar backgrounds living in the US.
