Strategy and transformation

When you joined Capgemini, you started a new career journey. Tell us about it.

My background is in HR, but when I joined Capgemini, I took a consulting role. Capgemini seemed like they had people from various backgrounds coming into consulting roles, and it made me comfortable in being able to take a leap and seeing myself in a completely different role.

How was the transition process from HR to consulting ?

It was actually a bit of a learning curve. I didn’t necessarily have to do many certifications, but I did do a lot of personal development on my own time, looking at how can I improve myself on these different skills that I didn’t have to become a better consultant. And it also helped that a lot of my managers and the fellow consultants I had around me had a lot of tips and pointers on what else I can learn to get myself up to speed.

What do you do as a Senior Consultant at Capgemini?

I’m a part of a workforce and organization team at Capgemini Invent, where we solely focus on the HR offerings that we can bring to clients. So what I’m working on right now is a global HR transformation, focusing on the organizational design aspects. So really looking at how does an organization function the most efficiently? How can we create it so that there are seamless processes globally and harmonization in that way? So, it’s a really interesting and cool space because I personally have never worked in it before, but it’s a really great learning curve just to see the ins and outs of organizations and the functions behind the HR and what we’re looking to do and how we’re looking to be more efficient and help the people experience in the future.

What do you love the most about Capgemini?

What I love the most about Capgemini, honestly, and I’ve said this before, is the people. The people have been extremely welcoming. I’ve worked at a few other consulting companies before from an HR perspective, and the culture here is a little different. Everyone’s very open, friendly, welcoming, helpful, and I think it also helps that not all of us are from specifically a consulting background, because it can really make it more relatable. I feel like I can relate to the people that I work with a little bit better than if we all just have the same background.

How has Capgemini supported your growth personally and/or professionally?

Capgemini has helped my growth from a personal aspect because being in consulting you learn that a lot of things are very fast-paced. I’ve always been a pretty structured person, but coming to Capgemini I’ve learned that, okay, I need to be a little bit more structured in a more efficient manner, and it’s helped me grow that way from a personal and professional perspective.

What advice would you give someone joining Capgemini?

Ask a lot of questions. Meet people as much as you can, whether it’s in person or virtually. I find that everyone here is always open to a 15 or 30 minute conversation regardless of who you are, where you’re coming from. And just ask a lot of questions about what you could do to improve, what you could do to learn more, how you can help, how you can support, and get yourself integrated.

How is Capgemini helping you get the future you want?

Capgemini is helping me get the future I want by pushing me outside of my comfort zone. Consulting is one thing I didn’t see myself really doing before but, now that I’m in it, I couldn’t have thought of a different career path to take. So I’m very excited to be pushed in this direction that I didn’t see for myself.
