Delivery excellence

Tell me about you and your journey at Capgemini.

I started with Capgemini just over nine years ago. I was hired as a Senior Consultant, and then I moved into our custom software development group where I was promoted to Manager. I worked as a manager in our sales operations for partners and channels for about two years before moving back to custom software development, and now I’m a Senior Manager in the life sciences business line.

What do you do in your current role?

My current role as an engagement manager is to make sure that our relationship with our client is as good as it can be, and also just make sure that we fully engage with them on topics at any time that are relevant – keep that schedule going, making sure that if we have any security updates or any performance updates that we need to share with them, that we’re consistently in touch with them and also keeping that relationship alive. Whenever they need something from us, they know that they can call me anytime and we can manage any of their requests.

How has Capgemini supported your growth professionally and/or personally?

Capgemini has supported my growth professionally by helping me get valuable experience and achieve professional certifications. As an engagement manager in what we call a Scaled Agile delivery project, and I was able to earn my Scaled Agile Safe Practitioner certification while I was here, amongst the other certifications that I’ve earned: project management professional, internal engagement manager certification. So, from a professional standpoint, I can kind of hang my hat on a few things. Not only just the experience but being able to become officially certified in more than one delivery capacity.

What advice would you give someone joining Capgemini?

Get to know the people. Getting to know the people is beneficial. Not only have I learned from my peers, I’ve gained knowledge from mentors, but I’ve also been able to navigate my career in a way that I wouldn’t have if I didn’t know people outside of my own practice or my own specialty.

The second piece I would give is don’t just limit your exposure here to your daily delivery with your client. Make sure you cast a broad net, maybe get involved with an ERG or take the time to contribute to orals or to presentations to sales decks. Do as much as you can to learn from all the experiences that you have here. And again, broaden that, that gives you more exposure and more experiences that you can add to your tool belt here at Capgemini.

How is Capgemini helping you get the future you want?

Capgemini is helping me get the future I want by helping me understand what I want for my future. Part of that is really working with people who have been places I haven’t been. So, exposing me to people who are further along in their career, people that I can call mentors and coaches. That’s really been helpful in me just defining the future that I want, because it’s dynamic, right?

I think stable quality employment has really helped me provide stability for my family, and I’m a very family-oriented person, so the future that I want is a future with a family that’s healthy and happy and Capgemini’s helping me do that.
