Tell me about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I have the pleasure of welcoming new joiners to Capgemini each week across North America. My day is filled with preparations to ensure our new joiners have the best onboarding experience Capgemini can offer.

How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills?

On a monthly basis, employees receive a personalized anonymous link to share feedback with their leaders and to express what they need here at Capgemini. Also, we have several learning platforms (Next, Pluralsight, Coursera, and MyLearning) where we can get certified in a plethora of skill sets.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

I am so proud to work for Capgemini because of our leadership and our values. We have leaders who are approachable and enjoy sharing their story with us, and one of our seven core values is “fun.” What company is bold enough to ask its employees to incorporate fun into their work lives?

Tell me about your involvement in the Mentoring Matters employee resource group (ERG).

I am one of the national co-leads for Mentoring Matters. Our mission is to facilitate the development of genuine, professional relationships between leaders and frontline employees. We have a monthly chat space we call a huddle where employees will have a conversation with a manager or above on topics like self-advocacy, engaging diverse teams, career advice, and when and how to ask for help.

What advice would you give someone joining Capgemini?

The best advice I would give a new hire is to join one of our employee resource groups, as it will make this 360,000-employee company feel smaller. Network, network, network.

How is Capgemini helping you get the future you want?

I joined Capgemini in 2010 on the Immigration team. In 2013, our Payroll and Benefits team needed additional support and I volunteered to assist two days per week. Then in 2021 I was ready for something different and the opportunity presented itself in 2022: I transferred to the Learning Talent and Culture team for the role I am currently in today. All of that to say: mobility is a reality at Capgemini. You don’t have to leave the company – look within the company.

Our brand promise “Get the Future You Want” is not a slogan, it’s a reality for all employees, but it does take some work. Networking is key, as well as asking for what you want. We must lean in. My mom used to say “don’t just come to the table with a knife and fork” and that has always stayed with me.
