Women in Digital

Victoria, BC, May 11th

On May 11, 2018 the North America chapter of Women@Capgemini (Women LEAD) hosted a #WomeninDigital event in conjunction with The Langford Sevens Women’s Series in Canada.  To kick off the weekend of rugby, we welcomed business leaders and icons from the world of rugby for a discussion that focused on the unique ways that women innovate to be ahead of the game.

The event was a great opportunity to bring together leaders in business and rugby to discuss the intersections and opportunities between the two. Some of the key topics that arose were the adversity that women overcome to be successful in sport and business, top tips for success, and how to support women through the transition from sport into business.  The event was kicked-off by Lauren Sanne from theNorth America Corporate Social Responsibility Team at Capgemini. The panel was moderated by Paul Scales, Executive Vice President at Capgemini. The event witnessed good audience participation and culminated with a Q&A session and a call to action to continue the conversation and strive to be more inclusive in our companies, clubs and communities.

The highly accomplished panelists included:

  • Maggie Alphonsi, Sports Commentator, 2014 Rugby World Cup winner for the England Sevens
  • Andrea Burk, International Speaker and Leadership Consultant, 2014 Rugby World Cup silver medalist for Canada Sevens
  • Meaghan Howat, Director of Rugby Sevens Operations at Rugby Canada
  • Deirdre O’Sullivan, Series Director of the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series
