Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) India in partnership with AGNIi launched the Season 2 of the Capgemini Innovation Challenge in the month of June 2020. AGNIi (Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations) is a national technology commercialization program showcasing India’s best innovations, and Startup India Campaign, which is a Government of India initiative. This season emphasized co-innovation in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The aim was to collaborate with startups and innovators to find breakthrough innovations for two problems:

  1. SafeMaps: Enabling safe mobility for women by crowdsourcing information on safe and unsafe areas in the city
  2. Farmcast: Designing a crop prediction model to help farmers adapt to climate change
SafeMaps and Farmcast

The hackathon received about 68 applications which were shortlisted internally by the AIE India jury members. After further shortlisting, AIE India conducted pitch sessions with the top five startups. These teams were evaluated on parameters like problem solving approach, proposed solution, innovativeness, execution, scalability and feasibility. The top five teams were evaluated by India CSR Head Anurag Pratap, AIE Mumbai-Director Mangirish Herwadkar and AIE Hyderabad-Director Ranjan Pradhan. Based on the evaluations, two winners were selected for each problem statement. The startup LifeOfGirl  won the challenge for SafeMaps problem statement and Senselink Technology Private Limited for Farmcast problem statement respectively.
