Capgemini really values your opinion about everything they do. This is done through online surveys or via regular discussion meetings on a project, even when it is your first day at the company.”

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

As a developer I spend a lot of time coding, which includes solving fun and challenging problems, exploring new technologies, brainstorming sessions, and peer reviews. One of the great things about working as a developer for Capgemini is the diversity of projects, from a simple website to a fully mobile application.

Meetings are also a part of my day. For example, presenting a demo for a client, or starting the next phase of an application. No two days are the same, from coding to interacting with the client.

What’s also very important is that there is always time for a social call with one of your colleagues.

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

It’s the whole package! When you work here, you will see that everyone is hard-working, motivated and proud of the work they do, but they also have a great sense of humor, are very helpful, and always willing to share their expertise with you.

One of the great benefits as a developer working for Capgemini is the range of projects that you will undertake for many different clients. So far I have worked for a chemical company, a multinational company, a healthcare company, and many more, all with different needs and expectations.

Fun is also a big element of the work environment at Capgemini. For example, recently our Belgium office organized a ‘Be active’ challenge, which not only was fun but was also a good way to focus on health.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

The biggest factor for me is the honesty and openness of Capgemini. This results in a very productive and enjoyable workplace.

Also, the first thing I noticed is that Capgemini really values your opinion about everything they do. This is done through online surveys or via regular discussion meetings on a project, even when it is your first day at the company.

When dealing with clients, Capgemini uses a very open and clear line of communication, which quickly gained my respect. This is equally true for us. For example, while working on any project, the details related to it, such as cost information and other crucial details, are openly discussed with the relevant stakeholders by the project manager, and are made accessible.

How are you working towards the future you want?

My first goal is to gain a lot of experience as a developer.

In addition to the projects, Capgemini offers a lot of opportunities and learning platforms to improve your knowledge, and also gives you to the chance to get certifications. To move towards my goal, I have already completed ‘Out Systems Associate Reactive Developer’ and ‘Mobile Developer Specialist’. I am also looking forward to completing the ‘ Associate Tech Lead’ certification in the near future.Because of this I hope soon to acquire the necessary skills for a role as team-lead/tech-lead.

While I love coding, taking part in recruiting and events is also a part of my goals. I spoke with my counselor about this, and as a result, I have already participated in multiple events.

One of the great things is that Capgemini regularly asks about your future plans, and will give you the guidance to accomplish them.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

Reach out to people. It’s a very open culture, and your colleagues, manager and coach are always willing to help. From the moment my career started, I was very open about my ambitions. Thanks to the guidance from my manager and coach, I am already taking the first steps to attain them. Be open about it. And the most important piece of advice, have fun!

How do you think Capgemini’s support has been since the pandemic began?

Capgemini has focused a lot on mental health during times of pandemic, by doing Powerpoint sessions on handling difficult situations and giving people a platform to discuss any emotional issues. Moving from office to a home office setup was also done effectively. To ensure we stayed connected with our colleagues, virtual fun events have been regularly organized.
