There is unity in diversity at Capgemini

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

As a cloud solution architect, I am responsible for architectural recommendations and delivering cloud solutions for customers while aligning to their digital transformation vision. Along with this customer-focused role, I am also responsible for responding to client proposals as well as strengthening and contributing to the architecture community and Microsoft Azure Cloud practice within Capgemini.

An average day for me includes team meetings, client interactions, leadership connects on new client opportunities, as well as solutions building, mentoring aspiring architects and obviously some social time with the team too!

What’s the best thing about working at Capgemini?

Everybody who works here knows the answer to this one! The people and the culture at Capgemini allow me to express myself and that’s what makes working here exciting. People are very welcoming and willing to understand, guide and develop you, irrespective of their designation or role. Being able to reach out to anybody in the organization, speak my mind and learn from them means a lot to me.

I also feel inspired by how we embrace diversity in Capgemini. There is a unity in our diversity; whilst we are all people coming from different cultures, we celebrate and respect our differences and are connected together through the work that we do.

What makes you proud to work at Capgemini?

Though Capgemini is one of the leading IT companies in the world, what really makes me feel proud of being associated with it is our contribution back to society. The amazing work we have been doing in terms of corporate responsibility related to educating girls, providing medical assistance, offering financial support during floods and other disasters, planting trees and many more initiatives, really shows the focus of this organization on societal impact. I feel very proud being part of a large family which cares for others.

How are you working towards the future you want?

Again, it’s the people that help! Being part of the architect community at Capgemini has helped give me clarity on how I will achieve my goal of becoming an enterprise architect. The open-door policy at Capgemini means I can reach out to anyone, at any level. I can discuss what I want to do and get the support I need to achieve it. Along with the effort that I put in for my future, I see equal effort being offered to me by the leadership.

Capgemini’s architect community has established useful platforms to allow for interaction and collaboration. With one of the tools, I can connect to mentors and set guidelines to help me to achieve my goals. There is also an open platform for people to discuss their queries with a group of architects. And I regularly use Capgemini’s learning platform, where I get access to designated courses for my career path. I have been mentored and supported in achieving my lead architect certification by the chief and master architects here and I’m confident in achieving the future I am looking for under their leadership.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

Don’t hesitate to walk up to someone and speak your mind. People here are very friendly and supportive, and your voice will be respected at every level. There are plenty of opportunities in all areas that you can explore and contribute to. And the policies that Capgemini offer are employee-centric and include policies around career path changes, flexible working hours, training opportunities and much more.
