  • How do you feel in the morning getting up and going to work at Capgemini?

I feel energized and eager to embrace what the day ahead has in store for me. Whether that be challenges, problem solving, or creating new solutions, I ascertain the top-priority events of the day and then plough forward to achieve them, breaking down any barriers and navigating blockers as I go.

  • What do you love about being an architect?

Being an architect at Capgemini, no two days are the same. I have immense variety in my role, including activities such as client facing consultancy, responding to new client-acquisition bids, creating go-to-market offerings, market research, people development, STEM interventions, and Architecture Academy.

As an architect, I am able to direct and influence solutions right from the start and throughout the entire delivery lifecycle. Having the voice to change things for the better and being able to guide others on the journey is immensely satisfying and rewarding.

  • How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills as an architect?

Capgemini provides a number of technical and leadership development programs that really make a difference to its employees. I have experienced firsthand how these leadership programs can make a difference to how you approach situations in a positive and constructive manner while balancing that all-important work/life balance we all strive to achieve.

I began my career as an apprentice, which I was an Oracle and Informix Database Administrator. Over the following 13 years I gained a deep understanding of Enterprise systems, how they are constructed, supported, and enhanced. I then joined the Architecture Academy and have been a solution architect since 2012, working in a variety of roles spanning a multitude of technologies.  Moving into architecture I have maintained my technical depth, but now complement it with a strong set of architectural skills and mindset, taking into consideration the bigger picture from business and technological perspectives.

  • How does Capgemini help support a sense of purpose in your career?

Capgemini has provided several opportunities for personal and professional development, which I have embraced and consequently my career has blossomed. Capgemini truly embraces its diverse workforce, providing a flexible and supportive environment for people, such as myself, who require flexible working to succeed. I feel like a truly valued employee from both Capgemini and the Architecture group, which is exceptionally motivating.

  • How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?

Capgemini values actively encourage all to contribute and feel part of whatever your project/team is trying to achieve, giving all employees a voice and a sense of purpose.

Capgemini also provides the opportunity to rotate to alternative business areas, which I have exercised to gain exposure in public cloud at a global scale. Being challenged daily to expand my network and learn new things keeps my outlook on work fresh and intriguing.
