“Having a consulting background, I always wanted to be a part of a prestigious organization and I knew Capgemini was just that. I felt a big opportunity to grow here both personally and professionally and meet people from diverse cultures to learn from them.”

I have two decades of experience in building modern platform for different clients, and most of that experience is from consulting, working with end-to-end solutions in varying industries and sectors.

Having a consulting background, I always wanted to be a part of a prestigious organization and I knew Capgemini was just that. I felt a big opportunity to grow here both personally and professionally and meet people from diverse cultures to learn from them. It also gave me the opportunity to have a work environment where I get to work with different domains.

Tell us about your role. What does a day in your life at Capgemini look like?

I’m playing a role of enterprise solution architect for an energy company. As a consultant my day varies, it’s very dynamic because I’m involved in attracting multiple stakeholders for the client. I have to wear multiple hats, from problem solving to technology collaboration, interacting with business stakeholders and explaining the technical depths to them.

Each day is very unique with its own opportunities and challenges, and I have to adapt my skills accordingly.

What makes you passionate about your work?

As an architect I’m passionate about solving problems and technical issues. It’s something you get to do less and less as you become more senior, but it is something I really love. It gives an opportunity to become more creative in leveraging solutions and at the same time it enables me to continue to learn. And I also love collaborating with other architects and the stake holders – being a part of a team. When we deliver something together it makes me really happy.

How do you notice Capgemini’s efforts to create an inclusive environment?

One thing I’ve realized with Capgemini is it takes a lot of effort to create an inclusive environment, and it’s reflective of the company’s programs and policies.

There are feedback mechanisms where we can share anything and there is a clear communication between the leaders and the employees – that transparency is something I think is very inclusive, a way to foster a workplace where everyone is valued and listened to.

We also repeatedly have required courses where everyone is trained on how to be inclusive.

What advice would you give to someone joining Capgemini?

There are so many things I could share. But first and foremost, whether someone is fresh out of college or more experienced, I’d advice to embrace learning. Capgemini offers so many opportunities to grow as a person, from online courses to internal workshops and more. So have that open mind and embrace the concept of learning.

The second thing is, when being a consultant it’s always important to build relationships, whether its within your own project and domain, or within a completely different domain within the company or clients’ companies. You never know what new opportunities it can open.

Thirdly, Capgemini as a company highlights that our jobs are quite demanding; when we are working at clients, we go the extra mile to help them achieve their goals. That is why it is also important to remember to keep having fun and maintain a work-life balance to continue your personal growth as well – something that Capgemini fully supports.
