THE AMERICA’S CUP

Cutting-edge technology and sheer team spirit

Global and technology-driven by nature, the America’s Cup is one of the most iconic and prestigious events in the global sporting calendar. With technology innovation, sustainability, high performance and team spirit at the heart, it embodies many of the Group’s values, and makes for a natural fit with our sports sponsorship portfolio.

As part of our new agreement to be Global Partner of the 37th America’s Cup, we will bring our extensive expertise in digital innovation, sustainability, data, and AI to enhance the sporting performance and fan experience of this year’s competition, to be held from August to October in Barcelona.

“Global and technology-driven by nature, this prestigious sailing tournament – more diverse and sustainable than ever this year – embodies many of the Group’s values.”

New global agreement will see Capgemini bring its leading expertise to one of the most tech-driven competitions in the sporting calendar.

Enhancing the fan experience

Grant Dalton, Emirates Team New Zealand boss and America’s Cup Event CEO, is the man who drove his team to victory at the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017 – bringing the trophy back to New Zealand after 17 years.

In this short video, Grant introduces the America’s Cup, the “pinnacle” of the sport, where boats and teams have always been at the top of technology.

He also highlights the great fit between one of the most technology advanced sailing competitions in the world and Capgemini, with a partnership that promises a great experience for the viewers.

A little history

The America’s Cup is the oldest international competition still operating in any sport. Match races are held between two sailing yachts, one from the yacht club that currently holds the trophy (known as the defender) – this year, Emirates Team New Zealand – and the other from the yacht club that is challenging for the cup (the challenger). Watch the video to find out more about one of the most exciting events in sailing.
